Re: Help Epson XP-430
Mine installed also. I'm running LMDE 4. Once in a while it won't find the scanner, then I run this script and it will detect it. Only thing is I have so many usb devices that sometimes it's just changing the usb port or even rebooting the computer that I need to do to make it detect it. The script ...

Didn't find this in my home folder but I went to /root and found it there and deleted it and that worked. Thanks for your help!

synaptic window zoomed way too large and cannot unzoom
I don't know how I could let myself do this but I somehow got the Synaptic package manager window zoomed to such a large percentage of screen that I can't get back to the menu to unzoom it. Is there a way to clear the configuration completely? I tried using apt purge and reinstalling but that didn't...

Re: bluetooth does not cooperate!
bluetooth does act funny. I have found that depending on the device you may have to do different things. 1. Some devices you can press the button for a second on the device, then choose it on your computer once it find it in search, but then once it connects you have to still click Setup device and ...

grub boot menus keep getting messed up
Not sure why but every few boots my computer won't boot all the way and stays with an underscore cursor in the upper right corner of the screen.
The only way passed this which is easy but shouldn't be necessary is to boot into my Rescutux cd and redo the grub menus, then it boots fine.

Sharing my new script - making symbolic links
Every time I use a script I find online I think, "Well what can I share back?" This one simply prompts the user to put symbolic links into a folder for use as wallpapers, to take advantage of the randomly changing backgrounds option in Desktop Settings. I hope others enjoy it. Not a huge l...

Filesystem Hierarchy - Symlinks or no symlinks
I'm curious because I am watching a Linux+ training video and they are saying that there is really no importance to separating folders such as /sbin from /usr/sbin. I know that the /sbin is "essential" and /usr/sbin "non-essential" so I think my mind is made on keeping them separ...

Re: Making an M-AUdio Quad 4 work
Understood. I had sort of hoped the MidiSport4x4 file might be the same thing you needed. You might post here asking if this device should work. Even if the answer is no, they may know what you do need. i t might be. I have yet to test it again since I ran that compile. Thanks for the link. I poste...

Re: Making an M-AUdio Quad 4 work
Okay, the lsusb output saw it, but PulseAudio isn't seeing it yet. Let's get a look at your full sound setup with this command: curl https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/raw/master/src/utils/pa-info?inline=false | bash | nc termbin.com 9999 The last line of output will have a URL po...

Re: Making an M-AUdio Quad 4 work
Thanks for trying. I have it going through my computer and output to my home stereo receiver, so maybe if I make less factors of confusion I can figure something out.

Re: Making an M-AUdio Quad 4 work
so the m-audio device accepts input from just 5-din midi in (and has out of output) and for an ordinary guitar cable. Not getting any sound. I have lmms open and audacity open. I'm not sure what the missing link is that will get me sound. I think it sees the device but the device firmware is not ins...

I see a MIDI device in jack now, I'll have to see if I get a sound after connecting input to output. Screenshot attached.
