Re: Strange happenings since a few days - getting logged out to a termi screen, things OK'd and back to login screen

it's most unlikely to be some Virus, that is causing your issue,
& so you shouldn't need to be buying E-SET's freaking Linux antivirus right now .. ..

it's going to some hardware issue, that is dropping your system back to a shell prompt:
- what video driver, if any, are you using ?.

Re: Install dual bootable Mint on a Win7 computer with no access to BIOS

Yeah - - Fair Point . . But - as I've said - - this will also depend on where you live :!: ie: you can get far better services, IF you do live in the CONUS area. ie2: I'd not been able to obtain any such services, from that Manufacturer - In This Country. :( so - I'd elected to Pay For That Service,...

Re: Install dual bootable Mint on a Win7 computer with no access to BIOS

since the computer has it's BIOS locked with a password,, - then something that I'd still recommend,- is to Pay to have that Code - Removed. it will always be a right PiTA if you don't do this. NB: it will be cheaper do, if you do happen to reside in the CONUS area. . . this is something, that I've ...

Re: How to install driver for Touchscreen ?

Hmm - - the above is a good method to find Missing Drivers - on the Windows System,
but, alas, that's not going to work on your LinuxMint System.

Re: Swap file?

it seems that the LM19 version & the last version of LM18x did start to use a SwapFile, rather than an actual /swap partition. - whether this is progress, or not, is a moot point. the LM19 series also sets it's own file-size, for that SwapFile, as well. if you do wish to use the 'old method' then yo...

Re: How to install driver for Touchscreen ?

(64 Bit , Windows 10 work perfecto) but - of course it is :o that Windows is an Highly Customised System  and your LinuxMint is Just Plain Vanilla :( ie: if those drivers are not already incorporated into the Linux Kernel,, & there are No Extra Drivers Available - - then your gadget won't wor...

Re: Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro is working on Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon with Wine 3.16

you've done well, if you've managed to get Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro working with Mint 19 8) as a General Rule, any Adobe Product will not play nicely with any Linux System. :( and if you've also tried using Crossover Product & that didn't work out, then you may wish to try out their New Cx18 series, sin...

Hi Aronne,

it would pay to start another Post about your DPKG issue,
and, if possible, to give even more information, about what you have done, so far.

Re: MS LifeCam VX-6000 how to install in cinnamon 'tara'

Hmm - there is a high likelihood of that M$ LifeCam needing some Extra Drivers.
and as such, you could have some issues in getting those drivers to work on any Linux System.

NO - you can't do that all from Command Prompt !

you should be able to restart that laptop, pressed f12, and then choosed boot from a usb. ..
- what happens at this point ? does it just boot the LinuxMint on the HDD ?
or do you get a Black Screen ? something else ?.

what actually could get very interesting,
- is those folks who have an machine with an smaller eMMC storage memory drive.
these are getting filled up., by that Bloat-ware that is called Windows -10
this could be a potential income earner, for those 'in-the-know'.
