and it does show that you do need to be prudent, in your exposure of the Linux System, unfortunately.

the assumption would be, that Apple has very specific hardware, on each machine,
and that they can & do change that hardware, with each Hardware Model / version.
you would have to get an INXI report from each machine,
to find out those changes, if any.

that maybe so, but the idea is to try and help the OP with his password woes. :) as already noted, the better solution is to shorten the password to an more user-friendly length. once you get used to the LinuxMint System, then your need for the password, should also diminish as well .. not to zero, ...
