Re: Update Manager Issue.

what did you do to set that update policy?

most folks would just let the system updater, do it's auto thing, without any interference . .

Re: Linux Mint on SSD

these days, you should be just able to use the "something else" option, like normal,
and just point the installer to place / root on the SSD and /home on the HDD,,
and then click on next, to continue with the installation.

Re: How can i install Photoshop on Linux Mint

most Adobe products don't work well with any Linux System, as they have some proprietary coding techniques that don't sit well with Linux Systems. however, some Adobe products, mainly some older products, have been partially successful, in working under some Linux Systems - - you must Specify Exactl...

Re: USB STICK 64GB Error MONUT

there can be issues on Linux, with those extra large usb sticks,
and generally, they have to be repaired by the operating system, that they were designed for.

ie: you will have to mount it under windows, and run the inbuilt disk check on that usb stick.

Re: New to Linux as a whole... I have a lot of problems.

sure - - sometimes that new Linux install doesn't go according to plan, as those World of Windows machines can have some fairly customized hardware. did you manage to erase the win-10 completely ? or is there still some bits left over ? would you be able to reboot the LinuxMint live system, and from...

Re: swap partition and SSD drive [solved]

the idea of a swap file is still fairly new,
but you should be able to lose the swap partition without any issues.

Re: Mint in Virtualbox/3d accel question

what I've found, that seems to work, is to use both 3d & 2d acceleration for win-7 or win-10, but only use 3d acceleration for Linux systems. there was, from memory, some performance issues, when using both 3d & 2d acceleration on Linux systems. and likewise, there was graphic issues, with s...

Re: Mint in Virtualbox/3d accel question

once you've got the Guest additions installed, then the things like screen resolution should be adjustable, but even then, there are some limits. if fact, the whole Virtual System, is not really that Bombproof, either, but you usually can get some fairly satisfactory results. it's usually just a mat...

Hmm Cosmo. that's just a Browser Hijack, & not a Operating System Hijack,
& which is much worse.
:(

in this case, if the OP is intent on doing this modus operandi ,
then it may pay to assist them, in order to alleviate any potential issues.

Re: Mint on low-end hardware?

YEP - - that's often, so true - - they will only sell refurbished PCs that contain the World's Biggest Virus  but Puppy has come a long way,, and I've got versions 2x through 4x,, though they were never really intended to be installed to some HDD, even though that was possible. however, the...

We have someone here still sitting on Mint 13. There appear to be valid business reasons for staying on Mint 13 for the next 6/12 months. since I've assisted some Folks who wished to continue to use their older win-xp PCs :o this can be done - - you have to manually extract the *.tar.gz archive, &a...

you can also place fat32 as the 1st partition & ext3 as the 2nd partition,

Re: Mint on low-end hardware?

a lot of my PCs were always of the win-xp era, and as such, generally had ~1Gb RAM and 60 / 80Gb sized HDDs, and, as a rule, they have always run fine using the LinuxMint Mate, or using Mepis ( MX or anti-X ) - - anti-X17 is now available & MX17rc is also available . . . the real issue, is, as a...

Re: My Firefox just got hyjacked! security alert code 055BCCAC9FEC

the one thing that you could to - - is to Reset Firefox, back to it's default: - Help - TroubleShooting Information - Refresh Firefox if you use the other option - - Restart with Add-ons Disabled, then that will remove any extra add-ons. then, try using your Firefox, as normal, as you shouldn't see ...
