Re: Does every distro need grub on multiboot system?

you can also install the grub loader into the /root partition of each installed system, and then just use the Last Installed System to install to the MBR of SDa - to control the whole machine. or you can just use the easy way, like I'm inclined to do: - install each system & let it install grub to t...

Re: Suggestions for cloud storage?

Re: Remastering LMDE

you could just use rync / luckybackup / DiskDump / Gparted - - to clone the current HDD to a backup,
or to a identically cloned HDD or similar.

there is also similar programs to that snapshot from MX that you can consider, as well.
- not sure of what they are called, though.. .

Re: Cannot install updates

if that little white shield now has a red cross on it, - then that means that it can't sync with the LinuxMint servers. so, leave it for a while, and it should then return to normal, with either a green tick, or as a blue shield, if you do get this version, then click on it again, and see if it then...

Re: Unable to launch "cinnamon-session-cinnamon

was there any updates for the LM18.2 ? - - before you shutdown for the night ?

if there is no easy resolution, for your issue - - it may be just plain quicker,
to redo the Full Installation - again :o

and maybe, do a Full backup, this time, too.

Re: Total System Crash<SOLVED>

YES - would installing 18.3 from a USB flash drive result in a complete overwrite, i.e. fresh install . .
- it will erase the existing system, by formatting the drive :!:

it would also pay to start another Topic, if you have any further issues.

In effect, it means the FBI can ask, say, a California court for a subpoena to obtain files from a San Francisco upstart's servers hosted in France, sidestepping French privacy laws and legal system and The draft law also allows foreign governments to ask for non-US-citizens' personal data stored i...

Re: Mint downloads arriving as .zip not ISO - assume I am the problem here..

it may also just be the Windows System best guess for that ISO: - is as an *.ZIP file, which technically - it is. you can use ISOburn to write that ISO to a silver disk: http://isoburn.org/ you can use Rufus to write that ISO to a USB Stick: https://rufus.akeo.ie/ or use LinuxLiveUsb: https://www.li...

MEPIS
http://mepis.org/
unfortunately the M12 never got beyond a Beta

so it's alternatives are the related Cousins:
anti-X
http://antix.mepis.org
and MX itself:
https://mxlinux.org/

and I'm currently using Both of Them
8)
and LinuxMint - - of course.
