Re: Can you use the same My Passport drive in Linux and Windows?

if you do wish to share that ext drive with both Windows & with Linux:

Re: Worse system performance on Linux than on Windows

the main issues would be that 1100Mhz cpu,, & that too much, of that 1800Mb of ram is being used up. - - you do need an much lighter Operating System: https://antixlinux.com/ whilst the LinuxMint Project does have an XFCE desktop version in it's arsenal, - you would be much better off in using the O...

Re: Convince step-dad?

yeah - there is way to copy the windows system into an VBox setup: - but you do need an working windows system, first. If you have a USB stick 32gb or larger, or a USB drive with a 32gb or larger linux ext4 partition, then you can fully install Linux Mint onto that. You could then boot to that USB s...

Re: Convince step-dad?

After reinstall I get a bsod. 0xc000021a It boots and recognizes the hdd. Yes it IS windows 10. IMHO you are spending too much effort in supporting That Windows System :( you should have just let it fall over, as that system had done. and then just: If you have a USB stick 32gb or larger, or a USB ...
