Re: Back up to USB drive with Back In Time

"fuse" is not a filesystem. It's a bridge to a real filesystem. I would bet the true filesystem is NTFS. Fuse will create a virtual "view" of that NTFS partition giving it what would appear to be Linux ownership and permissions. AN NTFS partition in Linux would in fact run slower than a native Linu...

Re: Linux mint and tor onion browser

it's been a while, since I've played around with the Tor Web Browser,
& from memory, this may have been the way, that I'd got it working, last time:
https://computingforgeeks.com/installin ... nt-ubuntu/
again, you still have to use that Terminal.

Re: Third Party Software Licenses

Is it permissable? I.e. legal? It depends upon the country you live in, but it's not something most users agonize about. it is always an issue for those Users that do reside in the CONUSA area, & not so much of an issue, for those Users than do reside in the RoTW. - - that doesn't depend on whether...

Re: clean simple linux mint installation / partitions

you do need that EFI partition, if you are dual_booting an 64bit version of both Windows & LinuxMint systems .. but, I've also done that dual 64bit thing with only ms-dos partitions. :o - - that Install only used One Partition, for each system, and also has an shared /data partition - - as well. so,...

Furthermore, we also need to improve the coastal defences (higher dikes etc.) against the inevitable raising of the sea levels. Note that the low-lying Pacific coral islands don't seem to need that, by the way, because they apparently keep pace with the sea level more or less "automatically": https...

Re: Dual Boot with Windows on 5TB hard disk - GPT Query

1/ you may have to start again, from scratch, in order to utilise the GPT / UEFI style of partitioning, but there is an Windows based program, that will also do that function, & afterwards, you could then Install the LinuxMint System. the PCs BIOS can support either method & this should still work 2...

Re: Dual Boot with Windows on 5TB hard disk - GPT Query

a/ that is more an issue with the type of formatting of the Individual Partition, & rather than the partition type itself. ( NTFS / fat32 / ext3 / ext4 / etc etc ) 1/ on an 64bit system, such as win-7 & LinuxMint, you would be better off, in using an GPT / UEFI style of partitioning as you have such...

Re: Win10 + LM dual boot, from image.

you should have also restored that Image into SDA1 as well, as the Windows System, would prefer to be in the 1st partition, - - it will work, in other partitions, but it likes to be in the 1st partition, on any disk, .. where is it's Boot Partition :?: that's missing, from your system layout. you wi...

Re: Boot repair wont repair boot

if you Install / Repair the Windows System - - it will overwrite the LinuxMint Boot Loader, with it's own. & thus you will lose access to the LinuxMint System. thus, you then have to replace that Grub Boot Loader, afterwards, or run the 'boot-repair' method. if you now do have access to both systems...

you would get away with an 250Gb SSD, but really, - you should be using an 500Gb SSD instead. again, it depends a little on what you've intending to use each system - for. - - you could just go with 50/50, at least to start with .. then adjust the partition size(s) at an later time, when you've actu...

Re: Why is not Linux Mint using the latest version of the kernel?

it's worth remembering. that the LinuxMint.project - doesn't use the Latest Version of anything. :o it's Official Position, is that of being somewhat cautious. thus, if you do want the latest version, then you will need to Install that yourself, or, move to another Linux System, that is more cutting...
