Re: SOLVED: Transferring Mint SSD to another laptop?

figured that much:
- it usually pays to remove any Linux Video Drivers ,,
and place the system back to basics.

then add-in the Linux Video Drivers for the new system.
8)

and a little suprised that Windows, was so successful, as it's usually a PiTA.,

Hi Kwaku
you will need to give a lot more information, before we can attempt to help you:
- Make & Model No of your machine.
- which Desktop Environment of LinuxMint, that you are currently using.

and a description of what you did, and where you obtained that method if installing ./wine 3.0

Re: Were you to buy an AIO for around 60 bucks, what?

well - - you could just get an HP all-in-one as those HPs are analogous with Linux Systems . for a straight Printer, then a Brother Monochrome Laser Printer is the perfect package . . the cheaper all-in-one are either Epson OR Cannon. - we have an Epson XP-432 in the Office & it does have WiFi integ...

Re: Best Backup Choice for non-tech users.

the Best Back-up for non-tech users is to keep it super simple- - KISS - - - just copy your /Data files to some usb sick - re-install with the same ISO that you originally installed with. if you have installed, maybe just a few, extra programs, note what they are,, so that you can redo them after yo...

Re: 11-yr-old, single-core laptop

well - - actually, either of the above Two System, would work just fine. ( they are from the same group of developers ) and they both use the XFCE Desktop Environment. 8) the biggest issue, if you watch any video, like Youtube is the CPU, - if it's too slow, & followed by the amount of RAM that is a...

Re: Newbie: Full disk encryption - as with TrueCrypt under Windows 7/10

but, if you did backup elsewhere - then you'd to encrypt that too,, wouldn't you ?
otherwise, it's pointless in encrypting just the Full Disk, isn't it ?

ie: lot's of folks will use TrueCrypt within the windows system,
but then neglect to include the ext backup, in the TrueCrypt options . . .

Re: [Solved] Copy one disk to another

here is another thought: you were using Gparted to resize those two disk - - so you can also use Gparted to copy those partitions, too. - R/click on source partition - copy - R/click on vacant area on destination disk - paste. then click on apply. the normal error checking of Gparted will still appl...

Re: Add google to firefox search permanantly

you probably can't do that,, as each release of FireFox can reset the search back to the Firefox's default. it's not that hard to change Firefox search engine, as it's just a few clicks of the mouse. - your real issue, is that you are moving towards using Google, as most folks are trying to Stop usi...

Re: please help me intall Wine

since I've not really sure just what ./wine version is available in the LinuxMint Software Manager, & that's not going to be the latest version anyway - - which is now v3.x apparently. . . any dependency errors, could be that your Linux System is Too Old, for the latest version,, or that the ./wine ...
