Re: Setting sharing between windows 10 and mint 18.3

if you have a separate D: drive in win-10 that is still set as NTFS,, then both Operating Systems, on the Same Laptop, - - should be able to share that drive. - you therefore shouldn't need to set 'sharing'. so, on the newly installed LinuxMint - - use Gparted to display the HDDs partition(s), and p...

Re: Very slow file copy

copying does actually fill the cache first off,, which thus gives the illusion of Great Speed,
but, after that initial rush,, then it's a snails pace in comparison.

- fallen for that trick, myself.

Re: Where to turn for support with other distros?

some of the smaller / less known Linux Systems, - often don't have any Support Forum, or their Support Forum is basically inactive. But, there are more generic Support Forums like Linux Questions OR Just Linux OR Linux Forums that often will support these smaller / less known Linux Systems. 8)

How do did originally install Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa ?. & do you still have that install media available ?. if you still have that media, or can re-create that media, - then boot that version and see if you can now access the HDD on the machine. if not, then also try the 'compatibility mode',, whi...

the option "Suspend" will suspend to RAM, and does use some battery Power. - this option will work, as setup by the LinuxMint Installer. the option "Hibernate". will suspend to Disk, and use the least Power. but, you do need to allow for it, when installing & setting up Linux...

:o
but, there is still, some small risk, that it may work outside of that Laboratory,
and so, this issue needs to be addressed.
