Re: Per-application recent files

if you don't want any recent files popping up in the global recent files menu., and you are using Firefox or another web browser - - then just Delete All History .. in Firefox - - History - Clear Recent History or use - Ctrl + Shift + Del keys & this will erase where you've been. 8) and at the Botto...

Re: How did I get Linux Mint 19 from fresh install? (SOLVED)

that it does - - there's not much, to actually state that it's still in Beta . .
- if it seems to be working okay - then just leave it alone.

Re: Move all data from one SSD to another SSD

there is several ways to do that, but if you can Boot a Live LinuxMint Media, & then use the Gparted program, that is on the Live Media - - you can use that GUI to copy & paste each partition onto the new SSD. using DiskDump will also work, & you will have a better chance of getting the Boot Sector ...

Re: AMD R9 270

if you can get a driver for Ubuntu 16.04, as they have a driver for this card which works then there is a good chance that it should also work in LinuxMint as well. if that doesn't work, then also try: Menu - Control Center - Administration - - Driver Manager, to see if that will offer an driver for...

Re: Trying to run Win7 on Win10 VB

you may actually have troubles in obtaining an actual win-7 ISO, unless you have a current / valid Licence Key for it. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7 will work if you have such a key. you used to be able to get windows ISOs from the Digital River site, but apparently is n...

Re: boot from usb

just go through the BIOS very carefully, to check that there is no Legacy support. :) if there is none, or you just can't find any, then see if you can boot with UEFI still working, and boot with that. how did you get LM18.3 working in the first place ? what method did work ?. Note that the Ubuntu B...

Linux Mint. Partitions: 122 GB for Root & 122 GB for home. - - 122 Gb for Root is a bit big - - 40 - 60 Gb for also work. there are reports that the windows 10 update now writes a a 'recovery partition' - - it creates that 'recovery partition' regardless of what the current partition layout is at. t...

Re: Mint doesn't function after Win10 update, dual boot

that should be the other way around:
- smaller partition for / root
- larger partition for /home
or you will run the risk of running out of disk space.

Re: Outlook in Linux Mint

Hi MitchM - how did you get Outlook working for such a long time?.
as you may not be able to run Outlook with A2 hosting, at least natively, on any Linux System.
- you may be able to get it working with the ./wine project, though.

Re: Mint 18.3 install hangs after selecting "start Linux Mint"

that's most likely to be an issue with the AMD Radeon R9 280 card, some searching has suggested that AMD discontinued support for its Linux driver, and it isn't compatible (you will break your installation if you attempt to install fglrx on Ubuntu 16.04). For now, you have to stick with the open sou...

so, what's the next evolutionary step? most likely to "personalise your experience" AKA add your card to your SmartPhone . . interestingly - the ApplePay got hacked within the 1st 24hrs of it's release, but, Apple denied that it's payment system was at fault - it was the information Into The System ...

Re: dual boot mint and slackware slacko troubles

it would seem that both your "slackware" & your 'LM13' - - are a bit out-dated.
:o
you may be more prudent in updating your version of LinuxMint,
and then running that "slackware" inside a VirtualBox within the LinuxMint system.

what is the spec's of the CPU & the RAM - for that Dell ?.

Re: unable to verify the sha sum256 txt.gpg Mint 18.3 Cinnamon

this is the official way to check these ISOs:
https://linuxmint.com/verify.php
but - that is when using a Linux based system.

if you are indeed using a Windows based system, then as mentioned above,
- use Fred's Tutorial:
https://fred-barclay.github.io/VerifyLinuxMint/

Re: Moving LUKS partition, firware, and changing file system

personally - - I'd be inclined to back-up & start again . . if this machine has such light useage, then is there that much to save ? :) you could upgrade to LM18x at the moment, or install LM19 after it's release next month. you could, this time, partition the new system, a little better, than you d...

Re: Should OS-Uninstaller be run from a live session only?

well technically speaking - - unlike any software programs, you don't "uninstall" an operating system. :) generally you would overwrite / erase the existing operating system with the new operating system, & which will usually format / erase the existing system, during the installation process. you c...
