Re: Failed install from live dvd

I'd assume that you are using the Cinnamon version ?. is there an option, to select the Boot Device? sometimes, it's F12 that does work. - - in your BIOS - is there an menu area - where you can select the Boot Device order ? what happens, if you boot that DVD in Compatibility Mode: - which is usuall...

Re: Failed install from live dvd

Hi Paul,
can you check, again, that the ISO that you used to Make your Live DVD is correct:
https://linuxmint.com/verify.php
select the version, that you installed & check that it is correct.

Re: Can't install kubuntu-desktop on Mint 19.1 XFCE

whilst you can actually install the KDE from Package Manager aka synaptic,,
- search for 'mint-meta-kde' and install that package

but as catweazel noted - you do risk, breaking your entire system,
:!:
NB: I've got both Cinnamon & Mate installed on this Laptop - but, YMMV does apply here.

Re: Too large for DVD ???

the LinuxMint ISO has long exceeded the CD size .. & it now has to be burnt onto a DvD - and it will fit on that DvD - despite what your program says. the LinuxMint ISO size is about 1.8Gb in size, or a little under half of the capacity of any DvD. if you are using the Windows System to burn that di...

Re: Problem downloading mint 19.1

even though the DVD as preferred boot device, in the BIOS - - it sometimes does Not keep that setting. :? so - do re-check that boot order is still set to dvd/hdd/ order. .. try turning the machine OFF - with the disk, still in the drive & then restart the machine, to see if the machine will now boo...

Re: linux mint is laggy and slow

so, it;'s a mid spec machine - - 4Gb RAM,, 1.6Ghz CPU - - running the Cinnamon Desktop Environment. maybe you should switch to using the Mate D.E instead. you can do this without any re-installation, by using Package Manager aka synaptic: look for "mint-meta-mate" and install that package. then log-...

Why does Linux Mint not work, on this one machine ?

according to those pic's - the installer is trying to use SDA6 & not SDA4, for some reason.
- what happens, when you do proceed, with the option, in the 1st two pic's :?: which are the same pic. ..
try using a split of about 50/50 - you can still adjust that, later, if necessary.

Re: In Linux Mint 18.2 Mate 32 bit, how to use unallocated disk space?

that screen_shot does show a typical Ubuntu Install, & on that particular USB Stick, you can use the program Gparted, to create another /data partition, as SDb3 or SDb4 or even SDb7or SDb8 8) and thus use it as an /data partition for yet, another booted Usb Stick. NB: you are using LinuxMint /32bit ...

you can still continue with using that old version Macrium Reflect Boot Disk, & most probably forever, as well. it works well - so why change it ?. on the later versions of LinuxMint - there is an option to use TimeShift,, & which is similar to the Windows based System Restore program. some folks, w...
