Re: No internet every other day this week

To start off with, evidently you nor I can ping your first DNS server, so that's a bad sign. You won't be able to resolve any names. Can you ping your default gateway, 172.17.179.170? Does your University require you to have an 802.1 certificate to access the network? Type gufw in the menu search or...

Re: Linux Mint 14 MATE - Internet not working

I'm going to ensure you didn't miss this step

change your /etc/network/interfaces back to default

Code: Select all

    # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
    auto lo
    iface lo inet loopback

then reinstall the network manager

Code: Select all

sudo aptitude reinstall network-manager

Re: (SOLVED)mint 14 freezing up?? a lot and my system locks

IMHO you won't be doing yourself a favor. If you're going to install a new version, do Mint 13x64. It's based on 12.04 LTS.

Re: Error: Bridge-utils does not seem to be installed.

The bug fixed one issue. I found another issue in the logs referring to /usr/lib/openvpn/openvpn-pam-auth.so . I know everyone is going to gasp, but after multiple file mods, 755 and 744, I had to stick 777 for it to go away with the access error. I'm sure that's insecure!

Error: Bridge-utils does not seem to be installed.

Installed gadmin-openvpn server and it automatically included bridge-utils as a dependancy. I used aptitude to reinstall. sudo aptitude reinstall bridge-uitls and rebooted. I did a DuckDuckGo and then googled and there isn't much help at all. The one post I found said to "install bridge utils&q...

Re: (SOLVED)mint 14 freezing up?? a lot and my system locks

I installed Mint 14 x64 and soon realized it was not the Linux I grew up with: it was not stable. It would freeze as described in these posts, throw exceptions, etc. I have been using Mint 13 x64 a few days now and no freeze ups. LTS is the best!

Not that this will help you in any way, but I had (no)sound issues with Mint 14 x64. Running LTS 13x64 now. Works great.

make sure /etc/network/interfaces has only two line

Code: Select all
