Re: Distorted sound in headphones.

Thanks so much for all the help MrEen, it's very much appreciated. I'm happy to try out other solutions if you think of any, but it looks like we might have hit a dead end on this one. I currently thinking it might be worth trying a fresh install of Mint once 20.1 is officially released and see if t...

Re: Distorted sound in headphones.

I installed the alsa-tools-gui and followed the given instructions. After setting the 0x1b to not connected and looking through the list of other not connected pins it was clear that there were no other pins available which could be set to headphones. I will open up the PC case and see if there is a...

Re: Distorted sound in headphones.

I ran the alsamixer -c1 command in terminal but no luck, the distortion is still there. I decided to plug the headphones into the speaker socket on the PC case and the sound in the headphones worked fine. I then switch it back to the headphone socket and the sound was also fine. This only lasted for...

Re: Distorted sound in headphones.

No it doesn't fix it and the problem has reappeared. I now have to turn the volume control to silence on the playback tab, this is the one where it says Firefox audio stream, then plug the headphones into the microphone socket, then into the headphone socket and gradually turn up the volume. This te...

Re: Distorted sound in headphones.

I installed pavucontrol, tried adjusting the volume control but there was no difference, the distortion remained. I decided to try some of the other sockets on my PC case, I even went to the extent of plugging the headphones into the microphone socket and after plugging back into the headphone socke...

Re: Distorted sound in headphones.

I ran the command and shut down for a few minutes but the distortion is still there, tried shutting down a second time but still the same sound problem. I tried some music which is stored on the hard drive and that plays fine, so it appears to be a browser only problem as far as I can tell. Thanks f...

Not sure if you wanted the me to post the info that the URL points to. I did attempt to include it in this post but there was a message saying the file was too large to post. curl https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/raw/master/src/utils/pa-info?inline=false | bash | nc termbin.com 9...

Try deleting the files in /home/YourUserName/.config/pulse then run pulseaudio -k in the terminal. Restart the browser and test the sound.
Thanks for the info. I deleted all the files then ran the command and restarted the browser but the distortion in the headphones is still there.

Distorted sound in headphones.

Hi all. I have a rather odd problem with the headphones sound, it very distorted, just sound bad. This is a problem that has just started, the sound was fine the last time I used the headphones which was about a week ago but when I tried them yesterday it sounded awful. If I play a CD the sound is f...

Re: How to Install Blender 2.80?

I have downloaded version 2.83 and that works, it doesn't install but does save setting etc when closing the program. The version downloaded from Blender.org won't install itself into the Mint system, it's a standalone program so it doesn't integrate with the Mint operating system. So any shortcuts...

Re: How to Install Blender 2.80?

Try right clicking on the Blender exe, From the window that pops up click on Properties then click on the Permissions tab. There's a box that says "Allow executing file as a programme" Make sure there's a tick in this box then close the window and try clicking on the Blender exe.

Re: Mouse Pointer Too Small

I'm using Mint 20 Mate. On my system the mouse pointer size can be changed by right clicking on the desktop and choosing Change Desktop Background. Then I click on the Theme tab and then click on Customise. On the window that appears I click the Pointer tab and at the bottom of that window there's a...

Re: Blender and TurboCad v3

Hi oxygenfarm. I think it depends on which format his old TurboCad files have been saved in. Blender can open quite a few different format of files including .obj and .fbx. For a full list, this is on the latest 2.90.1 version of Blender, click on File, top left corner of the UI, then click Import a...

Re: gpu fan speed control linux nvidia wont stick

This sets up a fan control for Nvidia cards https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.leinardi.gwe or here https://gitlab.com/leinardi/gwe

I have got this set up on my machine but decided not to use the fan control as I had just bought a new card and didn't want to break anything on it.

Re: Nvidia video card not recognized by software

I only have a single GPU so I'm not sure how to go about selecting an individual one when two are available. I know in Blender many people have multiple GPUs, some set for the viewport some for rendering. It's worth asking here https://blenderartists.org/ for tips on how to set up two cards. As to g...

Re: Nvidia video card not recognized by software

Not sure if it's still the case but I know there was a problem with the Blender version available from the package manager or software manager. If that's where you got Blender from then it might be worth downloading the latest version from the Blender website. There was, could still be, a problem wi...

Re: Change Panel icons, Solved.

Thank you smurphos and majpooper, I can now see the icons . :D I changed the colour to white by using the new GTX file and also changed the size of the icons. Trying to change the colour by using the Appearance settings still won't work, no idea why, but using the GTX file seems to be a much more po...
