Re: [SOLVED] Can't update installed kernel.

Thanks for the extra info. I have removed all of the old kernels and am keeping the two which you suggested. Getting ride of the old kernels cleared up a fair bit of space on the hdd and the 4.13.0-31 kernel appears to be working fine on both my Mint installs. btw I was going to add solved to this p...

Re: Can't update installed kernel.

Thank you, fabien85, updating grub solved the problem. I ran the sudo update-grub command then rebooted, i did check the advance menu to see if anything had change and the 4.13 kernels were present. Rather than select the latest one via the grub menu i decided to see if the update manger would now s...

[SOLVED] Can't update installed kernel.

Hi all. I have two Mint installs on my machine. Mate 18.3 is my main OS, it is on it's own ssd. I also have Cinnamon 18.3 installed on a separate HDD, it shares this drive with an old copy of windows vista. It is Cinnamon that I can't update the kernel for. I have the kernels 4.13.0-25 and 4.13.0-31...

Re: Gimp 2.8 themes

Not sure if this will work with Cinnamon as I am using Mate 18.3 but it might be worth a try. There is a link to the theme in the second post http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13728

Re: Thunderbird email download problem.

Thanks, catweazel for the info. Since I posted this thread the problem has gone away. Not sure why as the only thing I did was to play around with the default for my email addresses, but straight after that I no longer got the popup warning. Not sure if it was coincidence or something else. I will u...

Re: Thunderbird email download problem.

Thanks for the info, mrgordos. Alas the fix you suggested dose not work for me. I uninstalled and reinstalled the same way as you but I still get the same pop-up message and no email for the one address. I think I will have to dump Thunderbird and try something else if I can't solve this problem.

Thunderbird email download problem. Solved

I'm wondering if anyone can help with a email problem that has started to occur over the last week or so. I have three email addresses, and for one of them I keep getting the below pop-up message. Screenshot at 2017-09-27 19-13-43.png I I go to the inbox at my ISP then I can see the messages for the...

Re: No spell checker

I downloaded and installed it, still no good. Am I missing something, do I need to install it in Libre office, if so how.] The plugin I linked to is just for a spell checker in FireFox. Is it working in FireFox? For Libre Office I use this extension to be able to get a UK English spell checker http...

Re: NVIDIA gpu not detected by software

I noticed a few differences between the readout for your nvidia card and my one. I don't really know too much about this stuff but I do have Blender and GPU rendering working okay on my 18.2 Mint Mate install. The only things I can think of to check, and you may already have tried these, are to look...

Re: How to enable logout sound in Mate

I stumbled across this tutorial https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/tutoria ... boot/11583

I haven't tried it myself as I'm not that bothered about the login/logout sounds, but it might be worth a look.

Can't move text cursor back on login screen.

I recently upgraded to Mint Mate 18.2 and have noticed that I can't use the keyboard arrow key to move the text cursor back on the login screen. Not sure if text cursor is the correct term, but when I login to the new lightdm login screen and start to type in my password I can't use the arrow key to...

Same problem here, my .gtkrc-2.0 also appears to be dead after upgrading 18.2. Now I have on idea what the time is

It's not that bad really but it is a tad annoying. I will keep an eye on this thread for a fix, or if I find one I will post it here.

Re: Viewer that can horizontally flip images

Hi, ccoyle. Gimp can flip images horizontally. If you open up Gimp and look on the tool bar for an icon that has an arrow pointing both to the left and right, click on it and you will see a tool option that says horizontal or vertical. Select the one you want then click on the image. Then the image ...

Mystery Browser behavour.

Just thought I would mention this as it might be of help to others who come across the same problem. I was trying to book a flight with a budget airline here in the UK, it was the same day as the ransom ware attack on the NHS and other companies across the world, so I thought that my inability to fi...

Re: Lack of image thumbnails in Caja

Just had a look at my Mate 18.1 install. Image thumbnails appear okay for me, so it might be worth having a look at File Management Preferences and on the View tab see if the 'Icon View' is selected for the 'View New Folders Using' box. It looks like this has to be set this way for me, regardless of...

Re: Caja triple click to open folders

Hi, zolix. A few weeks back I was having problems with the double click on my 18.1 Mate install, what I did to fix it was to open 'Mouse Preferences' and mess around with the 'Double-Click Timeout' slider. Not sure if this is the cause of your problem but it might be worth a look. Just in case it's,...

Yeah but... do they have pants yet? I had a look at that today, fitting the stick guys with some trousers as we call them here in the UK  . I won't be able to do it with the current scene though, Blender's cloth sim is slow at the best of times, on this scene it barely works at all. Planning...
