Hi
The Firefox VPN is Hoxx. It's installed via tools, add ons.
It seems to work ok.
Hope this helps.

Re: Looking for a free linux VPN
Hi
You could try
https://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn
Please note, they change the password frequently.
Personally, I've tried paid for and free VPN.
None of them work properly for me unless I disable ipv6
Hope this helps.

Scan documents wirelessly- solved and thank you.
Hi all I have installed Skype so as to keep in touch with my daughter. Unfortunately, this means I have to use my HP Photosmart 7520 wirelessly. Printing is fine, but Sane can't detect my scanner. I've tried searching the net, but results seem to give scanning for networks, not scanning a photo or d...

Re: Bluray playing
Hi Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. The short answer is, I don't know where. I found a solution online, copied into Writer and saved it. It's worked for me in the past. Normally, if you try playing a bluray disc, you get a missing aacs message. I found one solution that says you can "str...

Bluray playing- solved and thank you.
I've done a fresh install today, but can't seem to get a bluray disc to play. When I search for libmmbd.so it says not found. I've removed libaacs according to the instructions, and installed java to read the menus. I've tried linking the following, after installing Makemkv. sudo ln -s libmmbd.so.0 ...

Re: Strange VLC language problem
Hi Many thanks for the prompt replies. I'm not looking for subtitles, just the original soundtrack. In preferences, I've selected preferred audio, and in the dialogue box, en,none, which I found online somewhere. It hasn't made any difference. It's not so important, I know, but I'd like to solve thi...

Strange VLC language problem, unsolved- any help, please?
A few days ago I decided to revisit Numbers, on of my favourite programmes from years ago. The first episode I played was fine. A day or two later, with no changes made by me, it now defaults to German. My German is very rusty and in any case, I'd prefer to watch in English. I can select English fro...

Re: HP printer problem
Hi
Thanks again for the reply. Yes, I tried printing from a LibreOffice Writer document.
It started to print, then stopped without completing.
I don't know if this helps. The printer is quite old, but it's not seen much use

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I haven’t replied sooner- I’ve been ill, enough to lay me low for a few days. So, I decided to delete the printer, then add it via a USB connection. HP printer problem
Hi all My printer (HP Photosmart 7520) worked just fine with Mint (Mate) 19. Now, it reports printer is busy, powered down or unplugged. I have it connected via wifi. This doesn't make sense to me. How could it be detected if it was powered down or unplugged? I've tried switching off and restarting....

Hi
There are various ways you can post the specs of your computer. The one I use is to put the following into a terminal, then press enter:
inxi -Fxzd
I hope this helps.

Re: Should I ditch Xubuntu and get the Linux Mint Xfce Edition? (older computer)
Hi As an alternative, you could try Antix. It's very light and will probably run faster. The only issue I've had with installing it is that sometimes, you have to delete all partitions, before installation. There's a live version, so you could give it a try, although of course it will run faster onc...

Hi
Alternatively, you could use a different video editor. Flowblade, Openshot and Avidemux are easy to use and less demanding. There are a number of YouTube videos about how to use them.
Unfortunately, Avidemux isn't in the repositories, so you'll need to search for it online.

Re: {} Install Tor browser
Hi
Tor isn't installed from the repositories.
Once you've downloaded it, you simply click to unzip the files.
Then, you need to click on the purple Tor browser icon to open it.
Because it uses so many layers, it will be slower than your usual browser.

Re: How to format a USB flash stick which is a Linux Mint Xfce bootable.
Hi
If you do eventually get around to installing MInt onto a hard drive, then there is a USB stick formatting tool, which works much better than just using the discs application.

Re: How to change icons in Mint Mate?
Hi Many thanks. I appreciate your point about Cairo Dock. It is possible to uninstall it with: sudo apt-get purge cairo-dock cairo-dock-plug-ins && sudo apt-get autoremove I tried your suggestions, and although Papirus icons aren't ideal, they still look better than the default, IMHO. Thanks...
