Re: Did You switched mint to non systemd init???

Mint 17 uses SysV init and Mint 18 /19 use systemd. DW's data is outdated.
If you want good solid systemd free distro I would suggest MX-17.

Re: Connecting To WIFI On HP Computer

Hi Nitroster and Welcome to Linux Mint Forums, Your wireless card is a broadcom bcm4322 and it uses the WL Driver which can be installed a couple ways. 1. Re: Which flavour goes with this computer

Any Mint DE should work with your equipment.
I doubt you'll find a big difference in xfce vs Cinnamon on that machine. You may have to do some work to get wireless working but other than that it should work fine.
Though XFCE is a fine Desktop. Enjoy the learning curve.

Re: Connecting To WIFI On HP Computer

Ok there are a couple other possibilities. 1. if you installed with secure boot activated. It may interfere with the wireless card some have reported that with your card if you do have secure boot turned on then the card will not work at all or may work partially and be unreliable. so check that fir...

Re: Mouse Freezing

Hello Oldmacpcguy+5 and Welcome to Linux Mint Forums, Sorry your having problems. It's often caused by the graphics card driver Especially if it's Nvidia. The open source driver that comes with the install is good but on some Nvidia cards you'll need to install the Manufactures driver. It would be h...

Re: Connecting To WIFI On HP Computer

Thanks for your help. Think reinstalling the driver did the trick. For now the connection does not disconnect completely as it was doing previously. But i am still skeptical about this, as network does not seem stable although i am getting uninterrupted internet. I will keep monitoring, and report ...

Re: After install Cant access old home Partition Mint 18.3

It looks good. The partition that says

Code: Select all

ext4 errors=remount
is your root partition and it's correct
your /home is correctly entered also.

Will have to do some more research.

Re: After install Cant access old home Partition Mint 18.3

Not sure but I suspect that sda1 is not being mounted in fstab. You'll need to edit /etc/fstab file to add it. Please look in the /etc/fstab file and see if uuid UUID="f651c851-0a8c-4ea2-8249-bee1ce160eb4" is listed if not you'll need to add it manually. This page may be of help: https://mintguide.o...

Re: After install Cant access old home Partition Mint 18.3

It looks like you may have two home folders. One is a partition the other is just a folder on your root.
The partition is not being mounted.
please try this command in the terminal post results.

Code: Select all

sudo blkid

Re: After install Cant access old home Partition Mint 18.3

Yes, the output shows that you only have 3 partitions one for boot. one linux with 14.3 gbs of space and a swap partition. No seperate home partition at all. was your old home partition encrypted? If so you may be out of luck. This is why I always recommend doing a backup of important files to exter...
