Re: Is it safe to update wine-stable, I never had to do it, what about the already installed windows programs

It's hard to tell if the newer version will work with your particular programs. But if all is working now I would not upgrade. One tool I use is to install and use playonlinux sudo apt install playonlinux it allows you to install many versions of wine and test your programs on them without affecting...

Re: Linux Mint 19 e MegaSync problemi

You can still install from DVD/usb but it requires a little more effort than in mint 19. you'll need to install some of the dependencies first. insert the Dvd/usb and go the file manager and install the following package before install bcmwl. glibc-dev-bin glibc/libc6-dev Then try bcmwl. You can ins...

Re: LM19 Tara Cinnamon (64bit): Total freeze and have lost doc files

nothing sticks out except the gpu and celeron may not be able to handle cinnamon/gnome. I would give either mate or xfce a try see if that fixes the problem.
I'm using mate currently on my older laptop which did not do well with cinnamon, and it's been running great since the switch.

Re: LM19 Tara Cinnamon (64bit): Total freeze and have lost doc files

First step would be to enter this command in a terminal

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
and post the output (enclosed in code tags </> ) so we can see what hardware your dealing with.
If you have an Invidia video card there are steps you need to take to work with that. (see the release notes, under solving freezes.)

Re: Looking to build new PC

Best place to start is with what works on linux for hardware. There are several list available on line - one is here https://linux-drivers.org though some are quite outdated. As a general rule some of the very newest cpus are not well supported yet. and some newer video cards can be problematic. Goo...

Re: Wireless Connection

The wireless usb is not going to work with the printer. You may be able to set it up as a network printer having it attached to the router via ethernet should work the router should assign it an address witch you can access via your laptop's wireless. I'm assuming here you have a wireless enabled ro...
