Re: Is it OK to do a fresh install of Linux Mint 19 or are there still issues going on?

Hello SamLearnsLinux, It depends, if your machine is UEFI then you need to follow the instructions in this thread: [url][https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=273058/url] if it's an older non uefi machine you can install as usual and it seems to work well for me. There are always a few r...

Re: Canonical quality control

Let's not forget that kernel -24 doesn't malfunction on *all* hardware.... On my desktop (with SSD) for instance, the -24 works just fine. It's only my laptop (also with SSD) that has a big boot delay with the -24. So the "kernel disaster" is probably not that huge. Sh** happens, that's what update...

Re: Set Atom as Default Editor for FileZilla

Ok the atom editor in the software center is a flatpak program. Which means it doesn't really get installed in the system. it is placed in either /var/lib/flatpak/app/ or in /home/.local/share/ you will have to point filezilla's setting in edit>settings>file editing to other and point it to the exec...

Re: Installing Linux Mint 19 from ISO, please read

My attempt at testing LM 19 from a USB stick locked up after one of the five dots turned green. I guess I will not proceed to the install step. Does the USB stick boot record messages/logs the same as Linux on a disk? This could be a graphics card problem and not related to the kernel problem being...

Re: Problem while login

Did you boot with the live dvd/usb? then check the var folder? Something is more than likely filling up the root partition by issuing log reports. Also something to check out is that kernel 4.15.0-24 has been problematic on some machines. and can cause your problem so if you have updated to that ker...

Which version of mate are you using?
I know there have been problems with Brasero on some machines. I would install xfburn and use that.

Re: KDE edition upgrade options

It would be better to do a fresh new install. If you want to try to upgrade from a KDE install you would need to install Cinnamon first then do the upgrade but KDE will left pieces that will likely be problematic at some point. - Back up what important to you and Just do a new Install.

Re: How to boot from a full Mint install on stick, just like a live CD but with all the full install goodness?

I have not dealt with this directly myself so I maybe way off. But as I see it you have three choices. 1. install Mint's/ubuntu's uefi in the windows boot partition and boot through grub boot loader to load windows and mint. 2. This AskUbuntu thread may give clues to how to use windows uefi to boot ...
