Re: Unable to have a joystick working correctly
I cant get that controller working either. Its recognised as a joystick input, but the transmitter output does nothing to it.

Re: MATE Weather Report no longer working
It looks like the fix is in upstream, so just wait for it to trickle through the Mate and Mint dev teams.

accessing DVB-S tuner and media files remotely from another machine
The problem: A machine can run e.g. kaffeine or VLC and access a DVB-T or DVB-S hardware, but you want to watch the TV program on another machine on the same network. The solution: to redirect X windows and sound to a remote client machine. Client configuration On the client machine you have to set...

Re: NFS share doesn't work in Mint 18 [Solved?]
Ive just installed Mint 18 on a laptop and this is the last straw I cannot believe how buggy the release is. This doesn't work. Also I changed window managers and now no matter what I do all the panel apps like the clock and so on keep crashing even though I put the original manager back secure boot...

Re: Weather Applet (Weather Report 1.8.1) Dead?
if you want an UNofficial fix (tested in mate 17.3) download my files, backup these two and copy over. you will need to logout or reboot /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmateweather.so.1 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmateweather.so.1.6.9 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8lWxEDYYm0acjExT1ZaZ2JPOTQ/view ...

Re: Weather Applet (Weather Report 1.8.1) Dead?
Owners of http://weather.noaa.gov shut down the service (a few hours ago it seems), so libmateweather has nowhere to get the weather data from. That means both Clock and Weather applets are unable to show anything. I'm currently testing http://aviationweather.gov as possible alternative. Seems to w...

Re: How do I run Dreamweaver CC or CS6 on Linux
Frankly your best bet is to install a (legal?) copy of windows under Virtualbox, and install it in that.
Wine is good for fairly simple programs, but graphics stuff needs more.
I run a 3D cad and 2D drawing package like that under a very old XP license

Re: Aisle riot screen corruption Mint 17/ mate
yep. Its all still there in mint 17.3 now. 3.10.2 aisleriot
Nothing has been done to fix it. No one cares. Both latest graphics devices (Nvidia/Intel) show the behaviour - new since I last posted.
I just accept that its how the thing behaves, and keep playing anyway.

My problem is that on firefox 42, even after changing the config file the behaviour persists
I assume there is some override going on.

Re: TCP sessions timing out?
I always use this way to do it (just have to change the version) http://dcageek.blogspot.fr/2014/06/install-linux-kernel-31417-on-ubuntu.html Thanks for that Pat, but I think I am going to pass. I am thinking this may well be another issue than the kernel. No doubt 3.14 will turn up as an upgrade i...

Re: TCP sessions timing out?
I am loathe to go 3.14 if its still unstable.. But I guess I can always select 3.13 at boot time. Mmmm. I see listed many flavours of 3.13 but none of 3.14 What is the 'approved' way to get a later 3.13 kernel, and 3.14, which aint in the repo ?? Ok update manager takes me up to 3.13.35, so I'll try...

TCP sessions timing out?
I have had two networking issues with Mint 17 and the new kernel that didnt happen with mint 14. I cant seem to find them mentioned anywhere at all, except possibly in some vague upstream bug. One I have been able to work around, the other persists. BUG #1. I have a virtual private server hosted out...

This is now happening when I have a live connection. Unable to connect to the internet at all now. Tried to use sudo restart network-manager and did not work. Please help. If you are still there, did you sort it. If not invoke root terminal and type ifconfig -a and post results. When the GUI tools ...
