Re: After unplugging headphones, suddenly no internal sound anymore

Thanks Jeremy... of course I had tried that. But hey, I figured, better try again a few times to make sure... and you know what? It works again! :D Thank you for giving me the right impulse :)

Re: Laptop will not switch off

Hi,
This is a bit cryptic. What do you do that doesn't work? Is this dual boot?
If you push the power button for 10 seconds, does it turn off then?
If you click on the menu and tell it to shut down, what happens?

Re: Trash deletion on a external HDD

Did you try to manually remove this entire folder?
You might have to do

Code: Select all

sudo rm /media/me/myexternalhdd/.Trash-1000
Once that is done, you can check with a

Code: Select all

ls -al
that the .Trash folder is indeed completely gone.

[Solved] After unplugging headphones, suddenly no internal sound anymore

Hi, Happy Beginning of Spring :) I'm merrily running Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca on a laptop since quite a while now. Since yesterday, upon unplugging the headset, sound from the internal microphones doesn't work anymore. Any ideas? Usually, I had two independent volume controls depending on whether the...

Re: mintUpdate does not install stuff

Hi Karl,

Wow, I had been staring at this so long and yet not seen it. Indeed, that was the problem. Works like a charm now. Thank you very much! :)

(Our next episode: Will Rafi ever know what screwed these permission up in the first place? *drumroll* ;) )

Cheers,

Re: KDE Applications have no icons and symbols in Cinnamon

Thanks richyrich, I hadn't known about that: Issues with KDE apps If you're experiencing issues with KDE apps (Okular, Gwenview, KStars..etc) run the following command: apt install kdelibs-bin kdelibs5-data kdelibs5-plugins Note: These issues do not affect the KDE edition. A regression in KDE 4.14 p...

Do you run Virtualbox, might that get stuck thinking keyboard entries belong to it?

<solved> KDE Applications have no icons/symbols in Cinnamon

Hi, I'm running a fresh install of Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon 2.4.5 64-bit on a system and installed also e.g. okular, kate and kdenlive. None of these applications show any symbols or icons in the tool bars or in the various vertical menus on the left side. Text displays just fine. All the rest of ci...

Re: Disable Touchpad While Typing (Linux Mint 15 Olivia)

Hi robim,

ah, yes, that makes sense --- but didn't do the trick for me ;-) Anyway, now that I had your lead I searched around a bit and found this one:

https://www.linuxwind.org/html/dell-tou ... 13-04.html

and that did the trick.

Thank you very much!

Re: Disable Touchpad While Typing (Linux Mint 15 Olivia)

Hi robim, thank you very much for helping with this. Actually the problem seems tobe elsewhere: rafi@laptop:~$ synclient -l Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded? and consequently rafi@laptop:~$ xinput ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST p...

<solved>Disable Touchpad While Typing (Linux Mint 15 Olivia)

Hi Minters, so I reinstalled my laptop with Linux Mint 15 Olivia, nice :) Unfortunately the touchpad is not disabled while typing on the keyboard. OK, so I check Menu -> System Tools -> System Settings -> Mouse and Touchpad and alas, the Touchpad settings have "Disable Touchpad while typing" enabled...

Re: Control + F not working

Just a un-useful complaint that I have the same problem and found no solution that would work for me. I tried, as was suggested elsewhere, to remove potentially offending keybindings using xbindkeys-config but with no success. Looks like, not only due to this particular issue, that keyboard shortcut...

Re: PM: Device 00:08 failed to resume: error -19

Just to confirm that on a fresh install of Linux Mint 14 Nadia on a Dell Inspiron 13z the almost-same error occurs upon restart from suspend: dpm_run_callback(): pnp_bus_resume+0x0/0x80 returns -19 PM: Device 00:07 failed to resume: error -19 although everything seems to work alright anyway. Re: How To Disable Lock Screen In Gnome

Thanks tdockery97, but that actually doesn't work for me. I'm on a fresh install of Linux Mint 14. Upon boot, Mint logs on automatically, but not when coming back from suspend or hibernate, no matter what the tick setting that you suggest. I also tried to edit gnome-power-manager setting as suggeste...

Re: Toshiba ethernet not working(SOLVED)

Thanks sprintcowboy, that works. For others to find this also: I am just installing Linux Mint 14 Nadia on a new Dell Inspiron 13z. Everything (wireless, touchpad, webcam, sound, ...) worked out of the box (once I fiddled a bit to get the usual "vintage" bios back) -- except the ethernet. So I check...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts not working ( mint 14 cinnamon )

Hi, I can confirm that the windows key can not be used for a user-defined keyboard shortcut on a fresh install of Linux Mint 14 Nadia (and did not work on Mint 13 Maya either). Also, the above-mentioned workaround does not work. However, on Linux Mint 13 Maya, the following workaround worked: sudo a...
