Re: Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon crashes after kernel upgrade

I timeshifted back to Kernel: 4.15.0-20-generic and it is working again. I did the same and it still crashed and since I can't work with a non-working computer I had to do it the painful way - Reinstall from scratch. This time with LM19.1 Tessa. I formatted / but kept /home which I have on separate...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon crashes after kernel upgrade

OK. It's expected you wouldn't have caja-browser.desktop and mate-terminal.desktop on a Cinnamon system; something in your user setup ("panel launcher") is still referencing them which would be to say that at least your home directory has some remnants of a previous MATE-installation present, but I...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon crashes after kernel upgrade

Certainly if you're now using intel+nouveau we're no longer talking about the same issue. Are you on some Frankensteinian Cinnamon/MATE system? No, standard installation the /usr/share/applications directory contains the following ls -la total 1708 drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 16384 Mar 8 14:40 . drwxr-x...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon crashes after kernel upgrade

OK, I hope this helps if anyone like to work during the weekend, I will leave the office now and be back on Monday. In the xsession-errors there is a warning Gtk-WARNING **: 15:23:04.099: Can't set a parent on widget which has a parent I have a clock Widget on the desktop if it's relevant. And I hav...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon crashes after kernel upgrade

Switched over to the Intel in the NVIDIA tool and uninstalled all NVIDIA 390.116 I could find using Synaptic (Now I have an Intel logo next to the clock in the lower right hand corner instead of the NVIDIA logo) after this the driver-manager shows that the nouveau drivers is in use. System: Host: D6...

Re: Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon crashes after kernel upgrade

At the very least, when under 4.18.x variants , try the kernel parameter from rene's link above (great work btw), slab_common.usercopy_fallback=y Debian maintainers themselves explicitly suggest so as well (maybe have a look at the bug report also)... On a secondary note...spot the difference...(in...

Tried the 4.18.0-16 kernel that was available today but it didn't change a thing. Re: Linux Mint 19, Cinnamon constantly crashes after upgrade

Restoring to the backup from Timeshift day by day back to 2019-02-27 before I upgraded the nvidia driver didn't help I have a few more backups to the fist one from the installation date but It feels like if Timeshift could fix it, it should have done so by now!? There is also an option in Update man...

Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon crashes after kernel upgrade

I got a similar issue to this with Cinnamon crashing this morning when I rebooted the computer. Background: Usually I upgrade using the Update Managed once or twice a week and now and then I also check for kernel upgrades. I was running 4.18.0-14 and had the 4.18.0-15 installed but not in use since ...

Re: Could not download all repository indexes <SOLVED>

Hi

Editing the list actually didn't worked, the list was correct but it still tried to use url's with petra instead of saucy.
I got the feeling that this list wasn't used, however I solved it by editing the url's manually, that helped.

Re: [SOLVED] Repository problem in 16.

This one didn't help me, I had to edit the url's manually and replace "petra" with "saucy"
and I checked the url's in TheDynamicHamza21 post in this thread

Re: Not able to login after latest update

I logged in with Ctrl-Alt-F1 as root and created two new users with passwords for test purpose and rebooted Now I'm able to select either of the new users to login and the password is accepted to login (but I haven't configured home directories etc) Shouldn't my user name show up too? I think that i...
