Re: LMDE no speaker sound - headphones OK

Have you considered if it's a power saving issue? I had exactly the same issue with two brand new installations of Mint 14 64bit (Cinnamon). At what seemed like random times the internal speakers on my Dell XPS-15 would cease functioning. I eventually figured out that the headphones were still work...

Re: Nvidia Graphics Drivers - Install Guide

@losst: i can't tell you if that is a problem with the latest 313.x drivers, with the way they are being installed or elsewhere; i use the stock 304.x and that one serves all my needs (plus with dkms support i have to worry less about X breakages, but they also happen) @Dan smxi has an option to (r...

Re: Nvidia Graphics Drivers - Install Guide

apparently yes, from v.304 you have that option ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/304.37/README/installdriver.html#InstallingTheKe997db but with several exceptions. Yeah I have (I think) the source and header files installed. Tried again with DKMS- still no go so, reinstalled w...

Re: Nvidia Graphics Drivers - Install Guide

the drivers downloaded and installed directly from nvidia are not built with dkms support so, yes, you'll have to reinstall the driver with every kernel update. During installation we're presented with an option to build with DKMS, it just fails on my system (LMDE 1204 64bit), so I expect it should...

Re: Nvidia Graphics Drivers - Install Guide

@drcasper

Thanks, man. Worked for me, except I had to install without DKMS- failed to build. Anyone know how to install the downloaded driver (from Nvidia, not from the repo) with DKMS support? I'm guessing my X will be broken at the next kernel update.

Re: Ctrl + Super shortcut for MintMenu not working

@Monsta Thanks, this worked for me on LMDE 201204 64bit. Odd thing is, if I set just Super as the menu shortcut nothing happens, but setting the shortcut to Super_L allows just the Super key to open and close the menu. LMDE is so buggy. I like it but, there's so many little things like this that are...

Re: How To: Completely remove PulseAudio & replace it with A

For anyone else who stumbles here after several hours of trying to get audio working with LMDE 201204 on an Alienware M17x R3, this should work: sudo pluma /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf Add this line to the end of the file: options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m6-amic Reboot and make sure audio setting...
