This worked for me (I have HP 1020) :

- Install hplip & hplip-gui
I use the command, but both are in synapatic : sudo apt-get install hplip hp-gui

- from the terminal : sudo hp-setp -i

Should work

No problem here. Update went smooth, rebooted and I'm fine.

Mine is on 24/7. However, if we suspect bad weather (power outage, lighting, etc.) it's turned off. Whenever we travel (twice a year) it's not just off, but unplugged because we're gone for weeks.

Ubuntu 10.04 is obviously very popular, so doubt many people think it sucks.

PCLOS grub doesn't play nice with other distros. I would expect the same would apply to SAM and Mandriva. Hello. I tried and failed downloading the deb package. But what did work was to simply use automatrix to install Frostwire.

I have the Frostwire entry on the menu, and it does work - just no Frostwire icon. Strange.

I'm cool with Windows - as long as it's on someone else's pc.

During my two years or so use of Linux, I've managed to go through more wallpapers, themes, colors and icons then I could shake a stick at. And, it's one of my favorite things about Linux - I can make it look anyway I want. And what I want seems to change sometimes daily.
