Can't launch apps from menu

Hello! After doing updates, I always got this message: “Warning: No support for locale: en_US.UTF-8”. I thought, no support for en_US? I am using Mint in the US! I searched for a solution to this problem and ended up fixing it with these commands: sudo locale-gen --purge --no-archive sudo update-ini...

Re: shortcuts on panel overlap minimized apps

There is a little "spacer" next to the Menu that looks like 3 stacked horizontal lines. Right click on that, unlock it and move it to the right past your launchers. Lock it in position when finished. Now your minimised applications will appear to the right of the spacer. I hope that I explained thi...

shortcuts on panel overlap minimized apps

Hi. Relatively new to Mate. Thought I could figure out this simple problem, but can't: I made a few quick launch icons on the panel and placed them to the left side beside the 'click here to hide all windows and show the desktop'. However, if I minimize an app, it is somehow hidden UNLESS I move the...

Emerson Prado:

Sorry you got no response, because this exact thing happens to me. The mouse works but is very jerky. Nothing else gets any response. No keyboard input is recognized. This has only happened in Mate to me. KDE is OK as is XFCE.

Thinkpad TouchPad settings do not 'stick'.

Hope someone has an answer... I have a T43 Thinkpad with the trackpoint mouse and the touchpad mouse. I disabled the touchpad mouse under the 'Pointing devices'......Synaptics' in the Control Center because I prefer the trackpoint after many years with Thinkpads. The problem is that it actually DOES...

Re: Flash gives an alternating white/black screen on youtube

I am very surprised that this issue hasn't been dealt with in the Linux community. I think you are very mistaken with your assumption that it is a Linux issue to fix. Macromedia/Adobe flash was optimized for Windows and having it work on Linux is an afterthought. Linux is not responsible for making...

Re: Flash gives an alternating white/black screen on youtube

It's kind of sad, isn't it? The Pepper plugin for Chromium/Chrome doesn't work, Flash on Firefox doesn't work, and nobody seems to have the answer. I've spent 20 hours over various nights searching for an answer. At this point, I'm tired of it. I am very surprised that this issue hasn't been dealt w...

Re: Flash gives an alternating white/black screen on youtube

I am going to try the new Antix. They state they are using an older version of flash for older PII & PIII machines.
Can anybody tell me how to install an older version of Flash on my machine?

I think you have it backwards; i.e. if you install one, it uninstalls the other.

I don't think mint-flash-plugin and the adobe plugin can coexist. Adobe will remove Mint's plugin.

Ya just gotta love Linux! Installed Chrome again and flash works. It'll probably quit working, though, so I'm not holding my breath nor will I be surprised when it quits working.

Re: Flash gives an alternating white/black screen on youtube

I DID d'l and install Chrome. Got the same error message as Chromium. "Could not load Shockwave Flash".
I might give LXDE a try. I am wondering if a new kernal might have messed me up. Mint 13 XFCE used to work perfectly. Might try a re-install, and NOT do kernal upgrades.

Re: Flash gives an alternating white/black screen on youtube

I'm pretty sure I used VESA when I installed to avoid any problems. I'm not sure. It says "VGA compatible controller.......S3 Inc. SuperSavage IX/C SDR (rev 05) However it says it loads savagefb module which is framebuffer I suppose. I've never had a problem before with flash on this machine, even u...
