Re: Connecting Huawei P9 with Linux Mint.
I have a Hawei P9 smartphone. When plugging the phone into USB, the name Huawei comes up under Devices...but I can not access any files on the phone(when clicking on it it shows an empty screen). It also brings up CD Rom(I think Linux sees the phone as a CD Rom instead of a phone?), in the devices....

Re: Why No Wallpaper?
That will happen if the image is on a partition that doesn't mount automatically. Chose one from your Home partition and see what happens.

Re: Why use linux
Why use Linux? Why not? If you are not a gamer and you don't need software that is made just for Windows, then you are wasting money on Windows licence (which is not cheap) and you are risking infections from many malware and virus programs that don't work in Linux (some do, but a lot of them don't)...

Re: Nemo context menu - missing "Make Link"
Open Nemo, click "Edit", then "Preferences", then "Display", then check the box next to "Show all available options". Restart Nemo and it should be there.

Re: Why not be greedy?
Okay, I'm not saying greed is good but it is often human nature. Look at Microsoft. They knew early on that they had something going and they patient it so it was theirs and theirs only. I'm very grateful and happy that Linux code is open source but my question is who invented it and why did they d...

Re: Nemo can't rename files.
Right, so I played with it a little (that's what she said) and it seems the problem is with shortcuts in the sidebar. First picture below shows how the sidebar looks when Nemo lags and the second one shows how sidebar looks when Nemo works fine: http://i350.removed/albums/q419/ninomrki/Screenshot%20...

Re: How to solve 'maximum of 4 partitions reached'
That's normal. The original partitioning scheme for PC hard disks allowed only four partitions, thus you are allowed up to 4 primary partitions. To overcome this limitation, extended partitions are used. A single primary partition may be "converted" into an "extended" partition w...

Re: Nemo can't rename files.
So, I just upgraded from Mint 17 to Mint 17.2 and all worked fine except Nemo, which was incredibly slow. It seems that disabling the sidebar (hit F9) makes it run faster. It looks uglier, but works better.

http://www.online-convert.com/
You can use that site to convert videos, sound files and other things to different formats. It will even extract sound from videos for you (use audio converter for that).

Re: Wife Has Moved Up To Mint
My wife picked it up pretty fast and on her own. Even though she still prefers Windows (mostly because she thinks it looks prettier) and refuses to use Linux on daily basis, when she needed to work from home, she had no trouble figuring out where everything is in Mint without any help from me.

Re: Mirroring screen image to TV?
There is. Once you connect your PC to the TV, go to "System Settings" and click on "Display" (settings may differ between flavors). There is a check-box there that will enable mirror display.

Re: Printer driver installation hangs (solved)
Thanks for the advice, but I just tried to add printer again using System Settings control center after fixing an issue with libjpeg62:i386 package I had posted in this topic: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=169297 It installed itself without any problems, so I hope that is the ...

if you are getting this in the first three lines: dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of lsb-desktop: lsb-desktop depends on libjpeg62; however: Package libjpeg62:i386 is not installed. if I understand it correctly, it is saying that is missing libjpeg62:i386 package (it turned out that ...

Re: Updates and Software Installing Errors
I just ran sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get autoclean sudo dpkg --configure -a and I got no error this time after following the advice from that thread and going to synaptic and clicking on edit and fix broken packages. Thanks! Software Manager still gives a message that packages could not be install...
