Re: WIFI Slow to re-connect on Resume from Suspend or Hiibernate

I can only confirm this behaviour still exists even in 18.2 (cinnamon//64bit). Additionally it's very annoying that there is no way to force the networkmanager to reconnect immediately . Try the terminal: 1. Establish the logical name of your wifi chipset (for example: wlx6cfdb83af4d5) with: inxi -...

Re: WIFI Slow to re-connect on Resume from Suspend or Hiibernate

(Interesting side note on the Sonya OS: I just tried to make a Printscreen grab in order to show you my WIFI tray for the above problem, and Sonya does not allow me to make one with an open WIFI tray - only once it is closed again.) Pretty much off topic, but you can configure the screenshot functi...

No internet connections active.

That would be a possible reason if there where mentioned links to network or cloud directories.

Are there links to network or even cloud folders in your directory tree?

Nemo: desktop refresh

Hi! Is there any way to refresh the icons on the desktop, e.g. after changing icon positions with gvfs-set-attribute ~/Desktop/Textfiles.desktop metadata::nemo-icon-position 1000,800 other than restarting nemo as desktop manager using nemo-desktop -q;nemo-desktop ? The idea is: I use the wdis.sh by ...

Re: Intel Device 5916 driver

As always let the notebook sleep for some seconds to fix the flickering, here's the permanent solution: 1. Edit /etc/default/grub Add i915.enable_rc6=0 to the list of parameter of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT 2. Run sudo update-grub resp. sudo update-grub2 3. Reboot (optional) Result: Flickerfree.

Re: Missing options in Power Management

Thanks Cosmo, I've now got "hibernate" as the selection for "critical-battery-action". The power dialogue looks almost the same as the picture in my original post, except that the selection is now apparently nothing (as opposed to "Do nothing") i.e. empty. I've enabled...

Re: Missing options in Power Management

On my 18.2 Cinnamon, I have 'Nothing' or 'Hibernate'. I have a battery icon on the task bar that I keep an eye on to make sure the power does not get too low. <ion>And I always wondered what that icon is for.<ioff> What to you do in full screen applications like remote desktop connections or when w...

Re: Intel Device 5916 driver

Thought what I changed after installing and first boot: that was adding nemo-desktop to "autostart" as it happened that the desktop was not shown (while everything lese worked). Disabled nemo-desktop autostart, rebooted, no flicker - but of course no desktop again :-( Changed all autostart...

Re: Intel Device 5916 driver

After upgrading to 18.2 (Cinnamon/64bit, kernel 4.8.0-58 automatically chosen) my Lenovo Yoga 910 (i7-7500U) shows extreme flickering (this can't every been called "tearing") when doing nothing, starting at the login screen. I activated the Intel Microcode drive (shown above), with no effe...

I'd always assumed that distributors would use lts kernel versions for lts releases, but so - okay!

[Solved] Kernel: why differences between update manager and kernel.org?

In LM 18.1 Cinnamon 64bit my update manager says I have 4.4, 4.8 and 4.10 installed, with 4.4.0-53 "suggested for stability" (sorry, don't know what the exact English capture is) and 4.4.0-81 active "suggested for security". Further versions are 4.8.0-34 to 4.8.0-56 and 4.10.0-14...

Re: [Solved] No suspend after Cinnamon update

The setting

Code: Select all

gsettings set org.cinnamon.desktop.session screensaver-uses-logind false

is the one that even makes Linux Mint (18.1) Cinnamon (3.2.7) show the hibernation option again after wake-up. (The other two were already set to true here.)

Thanks!

Re: Cinnamon Custom Keyboard Shortcuts Fix

Old thread, but still on top search results, so I have to add that since log the keybindings have been moved to

org.cinnamon.desktop.keybindings

in the configuration settings (which are suggested to check/change with dconf-editor above).
