Re: [SOLVED] moved to workspace right

@Moem... no problem, and thanks for helping

@HaveaMint... the workspace switcher adds icons for all 4 workspaces to the taskbar, thus clogging up my taskbar space even more. Thanks, but I'm ok for now :)

Re: [SOLVED] moved to workspace right

Where do I find this Expo applet?? Can't find it in the software manager... unless I'm overlooking it Applets are a Cinnamon thing, you haven't told us whether you are using Cinnamon. If you are, then there is an Applets section in your Preferences (on the menu). But you don't need an applet to get...

Re: [SOLVED] moved to workspace right

I don't need 4 workspaces, not now anyway. It's overkill for me. Then you can also get rid of them, by going to Expo mode and then closing all but one of them. The other question sounds like good fodder for a new topic. Where do I find this Expo applet?? Can't find it in the software manager... unl...

I wish that I knew how to easily re-arrange windows in the taskbar without having to open them in the right order, though...

EDIT: wait... opening them in the order that I wish to see them in into the taskbar doesn't do anything. Dang!

Re: moved to workspace right

Have you tried Ctrl-Alt-Left arrow ? or Ctrl-Alt-Up arrow to see all workspaces? Obviously not, cause I'm a newbie and had no idea about those shortcut keys, but Ctrl-Alt-Left did the trick... after I pressed it 3 times I just restored it back to workspace 1 and now I know what to do next time when...

[SOLVED] moved to workspace right

Hi, I right clicked on a libreoffice calc window in the taskbar and then I clicked on "move to workspace right" cause I was trying to move it at the end of the list of open windows / apps, not knowing that that's NOT the way to do it, and now my libreoffice calc is gone from the taskbar (I can't eve...

Re: Xfce running slow

HA I have figured out why the panel kept disappearing... it's because of a setting called "Opacity > Leave" that I've set from 100 to 0 and it was making the panel transparent all the time, except for when I was hovering my mouse over it. Dang!

Re: Xfce running slow

Not even a tenner to buy a USB stick? Or a friend you can borrow one or the other from? That's rough. In that case I would leave well enough alone for now. But I'm afraid this advice will fall on dear ears... Yeah, all of my friends have left the country many years ago, I'm the loser of the ...

For the love of all that's small and fuzzy, do make a backup of your critical stuff on an external medium of some kind! :!:
I can't, cause I'm poor (I'm not joking). If I had money I would do it, but since I don't have it... gotta play with the fire :D

Re: Xfce running slow

if your intention is to just re-aquire the ntfs and not retain anything in it pertaining to windows OS, your probably ok to format it for use with linux via ext4,...i may have misunderstood your intention with it. Yep, that's what I was thinking about: to wipe out the entire partition so that I can...

Re: Xfce running slow

you may need to wait for someone more knowledgeable then myself but to the best of my knowledge, i do not believe that windows ntfs is in any way compatable with ext4 (" I'm thinking of formatting the Windows partition from NTFS to Ext4") You mean to tell me that I am stuck forever with 500 GB of m...

Re: Xfce running slow

Probably. It's a bit of a risky operation for a newcomer, and I wouldn't bet the farm on it going right at this time; that said, this should in principle be possible. I would make very sure I have a backup of the entire home partition, since it would need to be moved do the whole operation from a l...

Re: Xfce running slow

I can remove it from my menu if I so desire. How I wished I had that possibility, too! :) It seems that you do . I mean, I know about that menu, it's just that it doesn't work... like many other things on my computer apparently. For example, right now I'm creating some mindmaps with the "Labyrinth ...

Re: Xfce running slow

I was wondering, however.... do these orphaned entries in the menu affect the running of Linux, or are they harmless? They still bother me visually, but if they have no impact on the behavior of the system I'm willing to let it go, cause it's better than re-installing Linux. What do you think? Even...

No change. Just rebooted seconds ago and t...
