The adapter is made by TP-Link using a Realtek chipset. Don't worry about it. :D

Re: Archer T3U not working

Hello monere, you should try this: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=283990#p1570311 the good news is that it worked (Mint now detects this device and I can use it to navigate the internet). The not so good news is that it doesn't reach the speeds advertised on the packaging (400 Mbps on...

And today I have finally managed to make the internet work (after...

Re: timeshift screwed me up

make sure you are in the folder where that package resides, that is the install.sh file then open terminal while inside that folder, been there, 100 times or more. it won't work until terminal is looking at the correct folder I don't understand what you mean. You mean that I should open the file ma...

Re: timeshift screwed me up

Do I understand correctly that you originally got your wireless working by following https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.c ... k.html#ID6 ? yep. That page was the only way I could make internet work under Mint on this laptop So the updates likely to cause an issue are kernel updates. You can appl...

Re: timeshift screwed me up

I only keep 5 of them, because that's the default setting. Also, I'm a beginner at Linux so I prefer not to delve too deep into all of its functions until I get comfortable enough with it.

Re: timeshift screwed me up

it worked. Now, about the updates in my UM... they all seem critical. I mean, kernel update, sqlite, grub... that kind of stuff. The thing is that if I click update (I did this very step a week ago) my internet connection will get screwed, jeremy's tutorial will be useless after the update, and I'll...

[SOLVED] timeshift screwed me up

Hi, It's me again (been having issues over the last week with various things, all starting with my network card not being recognized by Mint). This time Timeshift screwed me up. After going through all of the processes it's done previously when I used Timeshift again (a week or so ago), it gave me a...

Re: Kernel update wrecks my internet connection

Update Manager>view kernels>the list. The first screen shows the 5.3 available and 5.15 will show your active. You can update to any higher one by highlighting it and choose install. I strongly advise a Timeshift snapshot being made first. my current kernel is 4.15 (superseded), but I'm gonna insta...

Re: Kernel update wrecks my internet connection

I guess you could upgrade to a 5.x kernel using the update manager and lock the kernel after fixing the issue (your issue may be fixed due to the higher kernel as is). You're right, some of the gurus here may have a great fix. Haven't played the game, but I love the ocean and pine for the days I sp...

Re: Kernel update wrecks my internet connection

Good call on using Timeshift. I worked around this issue on a friend's laptop by getting a wireless USB dongle. These work very well on Mint: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00762YNMG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 you really want me to buy one of these devices, don't you? :) An...

Re: Adobe Flash Player been installing for 4 hours

Last but not least, does anybody know why video thumbnails don't show up in my browser? Like I said, I am all the way up to date with my distro, so where could do problem be?? Could it be firefox? If yes, is there a setting I can toggle on/off that deals specifically with these issues? I honestly t...
