Re: remember download location
Firefox is the ONLY browser that I will use, it is simple to make it save to the Folder of your choice. FF downloads.jpg I unticked that setting, but it didn't do anything. I will most likely have to restart the browser or reboot the system, and this can take weeks knowing how I almost never do the...

Re: Grim Dawn via Lutris always freezes
System info looks good to me. A healthy setup. (I would question the need for such large swap area but this is unrelated to your current issue) Lutris: right click on game's banner --> Configure --> Runner options --> Wine version. If you are on the latest Lutris build, game would use by default la...

remember download location
Hi, how can I make Linux remember the download location of images? Windows used to do this very well (probably the only thing that Windows did well lol), and whenever I had to save an image it would remember where the last image of that particular kind / topic was saved and would now open up the sav...

System specs, monere! System reports --> System Information ---> Press "Copy" ---> Paste here into a new post or edit your original. Hey man! Sorry for forgetting the info, I was too angry and couldn't think of anything else. Here's the report: System: Kernel: 6.2.0-37-generic x86_64 bits...

Grim Dawn via Lutris always freezes
Hi, as the title says, the game Grim Dawn always freezes after few-several hours of play, no matter what I do. I did do research on the topic (in google, steam and reddit), and while many have had the same issue (on Windows, though, not on Linux), I still haven't found a fix for my specific case. An...

Regardless, the root partition is 100 GB (and it's already 70% full lol)

Re: various optimization questions
EDIT: I forgot to mention something about the system monitor thingy... It's true that my RAM has never - once - gone above 10 GB so far and that the swap has never filled up more than 2% yet, but there is something underneath the RAM that's called "cache" and that thing is between 20 GB an...

Re: various optimization questions
As you wrote yourself, your RAM usage is around 6+ GB when not gaming. So running hibernation will mean your drive will get additional 6+ GB IO write per boot cycle. Suspended computer still needs electricity to maintain content in RAM. So for laptops, it will be either seeping power from AC supply...

Re: various optimization questions
I can't help with most of your questions, but I can answer a couple of them. The computer has two main types of memory: RAM and disk. RAM is fast to access, while disk is stable. Your files are stored on disk, but any files you open are loaded into RAM where your CPU can operate on them. When you s...

Re: how do I permanently boot into a different kernel??
Hello, monere. The changed / added parameters, which schellasu shared, apply to the first 3 parameters in your /etc/default/grub file only. The rest remains unchanged. Your 3 lines read: GRUB_DEFAULT=0 GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 With schellasu's changed / added lines they will read: G...

Re: permanently disable Unlock Login Keyring on Brave
does that make sense? no idea, I'm not very good at these things :) what i use for any chromium based browsers is add a parameter to edit menus for your browser. --password-store=basic then if you have any stored passwords in keyring they can be deleted. using --password-store=basic bypass keyring ...

In screenshot, you are selecting "Digital Output (S/PDIF)", not the "Headphones". Duuude, I don't believe this! Sometimes I am dumb as a brick, I swear to God.... It freaking WORKED OMG! So dumb :( Thanks for the heads-up, apparently some morons don't have enough IQ to figure th...

Re: how do I permanently boot into a different kernel??
Hello, monere. You have to edit the configuration file /etc/default/grub with root privileges once and make sure that the entries, which user schellasu shared, are present in that file. You edit the file /etc/default/grub with root privileges by executing the following terminal command line: xed ad...

Re: how do I permanently boot into a different kernel??
From Update Manager / View / Linux kernels, remove the kernels that are causing the crashes. Select them with "Queue removal" then "Remove kernels" at the bottom. If you want the 5.15 series to be the default, remove all the 6.2 versions that are installed. Is there no other way...

the sound on the I/O panel doesn't work
Hi, I have just built a new computer using the AsRock B550M Steel Legend motherboard, and everything else seems to work well, except for the 5 sound jacks on the I/O panel. I connected my headphones into each and every single one of those 5 jacks but there's no sound output. How can I fix this?? And...

how do I permanently boot into a different kernel??
Hi, I have several versions of the kernel installed and - by default - Mint boots into the latest version (6.2.0.37), but both the latest version and the previous one (6.2.0.36) cause my system to crash, so I would like to force the system to permanently boot into an older version (5.15.0.89 or 5.15...
