Re: [SOLVED] post installation issue

Hi gold_finger ! Thanks a lot for your instruction and for the time you spent on my issue. I accessed the BIOS/UEFI menu and worked on those settings as you told me. Now my pc boots normally and more importantly I am fully back to the Linux community! Farewell Microsoft :) !

Here is what you asked for System: Host: acer-TravelMate-P253 Kernel: 3.5.0-17-generic x86_64 (64 bit, gcc: 4.7.2) Desktop: Gnome Dist...

Re: How to add roms to MAME ?

Ok. This is the solution to install MAME on Linux. I have installed it on Mint 14, and it works great.

Make sure you install Nautilus and MAME from the software manager before you begin following the instruction.

Re: How to install open office?

Forgive me, I'm a newbie as well, but it occurs to me that maybe you're approaching this the wrong way. Libre Office is as good or better than Open Office. As I understand, it's a newer version of Open Office. It's already included when you install Linux Mint 14 or 15RC, as well as the more recent ...

Re: How to install open office?

Thanks xenopeek,

1) I used the first method but once I open the DEBS folder I can only see a list of non-selectable files. So ?

2) I also used the second method you suggested and the terminal worked, it did something. But I am not sure that the program is installed now.

Hi guys,

I need to install Open Office. I went to their site and downloaded the program, which is in my laptop now, in the form of a file:

Apache_OpenOffice_incubating_3.4.1_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_it.tar.gz

What should I do to open and install it?

Thanks

Re: Can't install Wine.

Hi Karl, thanks for your help. I tried to do what you suggested but nothing worked; it really seems that the system can't find the files to download, as you said. The problem is not a temporary one though. 1) If I paste the link, a download will start immediately. 2) As regards the second operation,...
