Re: Why is clock always wrong at boot?

fist of all, AFAIK the possible source of these problem is: 1. ntp is broken 2. you use dualboot with windows 3. you need to change your bios battery. IIRC ntp is used on ubuntu and the old mint I used also have it (though honestly I forgot which version was it). I assume newest mint also have it wh...

Re: suggestions for debugging slow logout/shutdown

well...there're reasons why I give alternatives instead of one solution, and I deliberately put it as the last option. he can choose one of the proposed solution based on his needs, and the last solution also doesn't means that he should _permanently_ not using cinnamon. it's just just a termporary ...

If there are particular issues that need fixing prior to Betsy, let's talk about them and we'll address them. as requested :3 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=218&t=162350 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=181140 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=190&...

Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid

IIRC sparky is using cinnamon from debian so cinnamon 2.2 is now fully functional on debian. that's a good news. we might could upgrade LMDE to testing and avoid cinnamon broke with several tricks :3

Re: Why is clock always wrong at boot?

ubuntu is based on debian so that the trick should work on both mint main version and lmde. to be precise, it should work on every linux. UTC=no no longer works because upstream changes on NTP. "it's debian" and "that's ubuntu" should not matter here :3 http://www.linuxquestions....

Re: suggestions for debugging slow logout/shutdown

there is some missing post in this thread. please allow me explain. the boot time, showed by 'systemd-analyze time' is different with the times needed to load cinnamon. we don't have problem with cinnamon in mint main version but we do have some problem with cinnamon in LMDE. there was a bug in muff...

Re: Why is clock always wrong at boot?

the correct way to do it is edit /etc/adjtime and replace UTC with LOCAL. the UTC=no tweak is no longer works.

Re: Latitude D600 loads Debian but not Mint-17

if ubuntu works you can use the cinnamon flavour then 'mintify' your system by adding mint's repo into your repo list then install mint's meta packages. I guess that's the easiest way to get mint 17 without debugging your system. since you have old processor the problem might lies on the kernel or t...

Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid

it's a known issue that current LMDE isn't upgradeable to debian testing. if you insist to debug it you can start checking the log files. apt history, dmesg and X's log should gives some information. else, if you could restore your system before upgrade, try to install XFCE then upgrade it to testing.

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

You can and you don't have to wait. as explained above, it wasn't about me :3 1. not every LMDE user aware the current LMDE situation 2. not every LMDE user have a capability to manage his system by himself. 3. most of them highly depends on UP system to get bug fix and security patch. whether if L...

Re: Jumping to Testing or Sid

+1 to genec's suggestion.

there's no reason using solydxk or ubuntu based iso if you want to get debian+mate. you can either use debian testing iso or install another distro based on debian which use mate. if you love LMDE you could 'mintify' your system when LMDE2 got released.

Re: Some extensions won't load in Libre Office

it certainly will...the fastest and easiest solution would be reinstall your system and use mint main version or debian. LMDE latest UP was on Feb 2014 and 'only god know when' will it got next update. it might rash but I can say that LMDE is currently on abandoned state. don't use it until LMDE2 go...

Re: mintupdate crash

that issue won't get fixed until next year so the only solution would be use alternatives such as packagekit, synaptic, or use terminal commands. you can also create a reportbug to mint team and ask for the solution.

Re: EFI boot

instead of using LMDE for the installation i'd suggest to use debian testing iso. - you won't lose the speed - you got gnome out of the box - you got newer wine with better windows compatibility. you can even use wine 1.7 if you add liquorix after the installation you can add mint's repo so that you...

I wasn't here for several days. have the situation changed now? last time I visited this forum someone happily announce he succesfully use cinnamon 2.4 on top of debian testing. since mint 17.1 have been released mint team is now have lot of free time. the gtk breakage is also over so technically th...

Re: Dual Boot LMDE / Win 8.1 Pro error

it's a grub issue and I'm afraid you can't fix it on LMDE yet. you'll need to manually change the bootloader on boot to choose which OS should be loaded. Perhaps I should make the Windows 8.1 bootloader the default and not use Grub? Thoughts? the problem is that you can't make window's bootloader to...

Re: "Software rendering mode" after i915.modeset=0 boot

the easiest way...don't use cinnamon until you got cinnamon 2.4. I'd suggest to install xfce as a replacement for your desktop. the good news is that cinnamon 2.4 is now available on betsy and a user reported that it now work on debian jessie. your other option would be: 1. install a debian jessie a...
