LookingGlass or any log/debug info for Cinnamon???

"Cinnamon just crashed. You are currently in Fallback Mode." Since there's nothing obviously related in syslog, nor is there a ~/.cinnamon/glass.log to view even though "Log LookingGlass output..." is ON, how do I determine WHY it crashed so that perhaps I might be able to fix it? FWIW, when I run c...

dconf reset not clearing all Cinnamon keys

I've been trying to reset/clear all Cinnamon settings in dconf... https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/wiki/Backing-up-and-restoring-your-cinnamon-settings-(dconf) ...but there's something VERY strange going on: Afterwards, all keys are cleared EXCEPT for those under "org.cinnamon.extensions.0dyseu...

Re: Cinnamon just crashed, running Fallback Mode

FWIW, I've been battling with this problem just after a recent update to the latest HWE stack for Xubuntu 16.04-LTS (I'm running Cinnamon on Xubuntu) but my video hardware is "AMD A10-7860K Radeon R7"

Re: Nemo very slow to move files - More Problems

This "Preparing to move..." issue in Nemo has been going on for a long time. I began using Cinnamon in 2012 and ran into it first back then, BUT it seemed to happen only on moves of very large numbers of files, over several hundred I think it was. My workaround was to break it up into several few-hu...

Re: Cinnamon just crashed. Now running in fallback mode.

Been working on this all evening... It doesn't involve the Nvidia driver, but rather some other updates; in my case they're bing pulled in from the Xorg-edgers PPA, where I get my Nvidia driver from. Haven't narrowed it down to exactly which lib, but it has something to do with one of the DRM-relate...

Re: Cinnamon just crashed. Now running in fallback mode.

There's some problem involving the Nvidia 340.65 driver, between it and Cinnamon, I don't know what exactly yet. As soon as you log in Cinnamon crashes to fallback. Happens on every box with Nvidia hardware. I have one box with AMD video hardware and all is OK.

Re: menu editing problem

For anyone having this problem, it's a bug in Alacarte, which "cinnamon-menu-editor" is based on:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1244087

An alternative/workaround is to use MenuLibre:

Re: menu editing problem

Good luck. The "Linux Mint Motto" apparently; nice advertizement! Brilliant! I'll be sure to pass along your sentiment, and how I'm now so thrilled with the Mint community  I'm gonna have to zoom right out and buy a truckload of Amway products! Yeah, I'll be sure to switch over to Mint...

 Typical noob-response.

Since Cinnamon is a desktop environment, maybe Clem or one of the other Cinnamon devs has some insight, or at least something intelligent to add.

Re: menu editing problem

I confirm this issue (/bug?) even with the latest nightly build. The only way I can add/edit/delete items to/from the menu is manually in /usr/share/applications. In the "usual" way (right-click on the menu icon, select "Configure..." then "Open the menu editor") nothing happens, and starting from t...

Re: Nemo Slow to Load Folders [Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon]

On one machine I've switched back to Nautilus (3.4.2) for both FM and Desktop management (completely removed nemo) and it's clearly much faster. But, SpaceFM is still noticibly faster (as a file manager.) The repetitive column auto-resizing in Nemo is excruciatingly annoying, AND it takes up a lot o...

Re: Cinnamon development news

Just tried the latest from the Nightly PPA, but... Can't install dependency "cinnamon-control-center" because it tries to overwrite a file installed by "gnome-control-center" :(

Re: Nemo Slow to Load Folders [Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon]

Haven't been able to undo whatever happened when I "upgraded" to the nightly PPA; even completely removing Cinnamon/Nemo and reinstalling from the stable PPA doesn't resolve the excruciating SLUG-ishness and etc. (???!!!) Installed SpaceFM and it's supersonic compared to Nemo, so gonna take a guess ...

Re: Nemo Slow to Load Folders [Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon]

FWIW... I've been experiencing the same sluggishness on three of four boxes running Ubuntu Quantal (desktop/64) with Cinnamon/Nemo. The box that WASN'T exhibiting the sluggishness was subscribed to the STABLE PPA, but yesterday when I switched it to the NIGHTLY PPA it immediately began exhibiting th...
