*IGNORE* - Notes on 20.3 Install Fixes
Please ignore. This is my work in progress from wiping previous dual boot Windows 10 / Mint 20.2 and replacing Windows 10 with Windows 11; but as a Virtual Client under KVM (Thus, wiping everything and starting over with Mint 20.3). Install from Live USB Boot to BIOS Wipe EFI (Won't work now anyway,...

Re: [SOLVED] - Fix for DNS Security Regression - systemd-resolve local caching stub resolver - NXDOMAIN Bug
It should be noted that even after this fix, there are background issues relative to embedded functions reaching out to the internet and their associated failures because of Stub Resolver ... which is more of a stub and not so much of a resolver. I'm not wild about finding these (I think of it as ma...

Re: [SOLVED] - Fix for DNS Security Regression - systemd-resolve local caching stub resolver - NXDOMAIN Bug
Just a small note. This page https://www.cloudflare.com/ssl/encrypted-sni/ is misleading, not indicating that Secure DNS is working if you are using provider other than Cloudfare -- I think DOH is not cool especially due to fallback -- On using app (for eg. ready made Mozilla - Cloudflare alliance)...

Re: [SOLVED] - Fix for DNS Security Regression - systemd-resolve local caching stub resolver - NXDOMAIN Bug
In a "Clean build" scenario, let's assume a few things. 1) You have updated your router's firmware to the latest build (Note, there are gaps in certain router firmware versions where you may not have all of the latest keys. This step is critical. 2) Your Router is DNSSEC compliant and you ...

the site I mentioned that closed its data was some development stuff, it's not related to intel or amd etc, was just some website connected to some tech group or person, no idea whose it was/is, it just happened that they had datasets of raw data available, but then they closed it off at some point...

Re: Linux Mint Live ISO Won't Boot or Install, Acer Asprire E15 Laptop
UPDATE: It was the wireless card! I detached the card from the motherboard and Linux Mint booted flawlessly off of the USB and Windows installed no problem as well! I guess I'll need to buy a replacement of some sort if I don't just want to use ethernet, but it at least looks like the mystery is fi...

[SOLVED] - Fix for DNS Security Regression - systemd-resolve local caching stub resolver NXDOMAIN bug
Okay.. well.. this obviously isn't getting fixed anytime soon. Investigation into the problem reveals this was Ubuntu pulling another "Unity Desktop" in attempting to preemptively integrate an upstream desire for enforcing DNSSEC Compliance where no such enforcement is either reasonable or...

Re: [SOLVED] - Fix for Errors - Couldn't open /etc/securetty: No such file or directory
Well.. that's where things get complicated depending on the additional options you employ. Recreating the file from an 18.x build (from what I read) does eliminate the dependency issue; however, it doesn't necessary fix the overall issue in that in addition to it existing as a function and relying o...

Re: [SOLVED] - Fix for Errors - Couldn't open /etc/securetty: No such file or directory
Well... All I can say is be grateful that this one isn't filling up your error logs. I found it pretty damn annoying (and it is widespread). Folks using snap probably don't see it either since the dependency comes down (to a different snap target location) which is what started some of the discourse...

Re: [SOLVED] - Fix for Errors - Couldn't open /etc/securetty: No such file or directory
If you have updated your Operating System (Versus installing clean), chances are excellent that you actually have the file in question left over from your previous version in which case you won't get the errors. I could have just as easily copied the file from snap or from a previous Mint/Ubuntu ver...

[SOLVED] - Fix for Errors - Couldn't open /etc/securetty: No such file or directory
Since around 2012 there have been discussions about removing the function that is responsible for these errors spamming your error logs. For example, See: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=674857#25 In a nutshell, this entire function is pointless unless you are managing a system ove...

[SOLVED] - Fix for Regression bug - bad path to system_bus_socket boot error in Mint 20
Below is the fix for another regression in new Linux Mint 20 installations. This bug was supposedly fixed several times including in Ubuntu Beta 20.04 and final; however, here we are.. so.....I guess that's either wrong or at least debatable. I have updated the bug report at: https://bugs.launchpad....

[SOLVED] - Fix for avahi-daemon - chroot.c: open() failed: No such file or directory
This regression is from 4-years ago.. then 3-years ago.. then 2-years ago .. and ... well.. you get the idea. I have no idea why it is rearing its ugly head again in Mint 20; but here we are... I looked on Mint's github bug reports and didn't see anything about avahi so I'm not even sure if I picked...

Re: DNS Security Regression - systemd-resolve local caching stub resolver
This is not a Server, just a laptop. Nor should either be required in either a Server or Client situation. The subject is titled as such as the original bug was defined as local caching resolution relative to internal EDNS0 definition of systemd-resolve. It seems strange this situation is occurring ...

[SOLVED] - Fix for DNS Security Regression - systemd-resolve local caching stub resolver - NXDOMAIN Bug
In new installations of Mint 20, the following regression is experienced with the result of 50+ NXDOMAIN errors within seconds of booting and then the error continuing, resulting in tens of thousands of occurrences in error logs. Errors: Sender: systemd-resolve Server returned error NXDOMAIN, mitiga...
