Epson Dx4000 Bad Print Quality
Hi Folks, I'm Running Mint 17.2 with Cinnamon & the print quality from my Epson is dire. Lots of thick horizontal bands in colour printing. I've tried printing my graphics from Gimp & also from Gnome image viewer. I've also tried to set the job to higher quality levels in the options. I've d...

Re: LM13 SUPER SLOW on Dell Inspiron M5010
Hi all, I just installed Maya-Mate 64 bit on an identical machine (this one has 4g RAM) & have appalling boot times - 9-10 minutes. I used Gparted to wipe the drive & create system & home partitions prior to installing Mint from a (unetbootin) USB stick. I tested the stick before install...

Re: How do you clear the print Q?
Hi I had this problem recently. The printer config just wasn't doing anything with current jobs & it was very frustrating. Dr Hu's solution worked for me, but there is an easier way, paste: http://localhost:631/jobs/ Into the address bar of your browser. All current jobs appear & can be stop...

Re: Mint 13 Mate 32 bit, Sound Skips
Skipping, aka stuttering & glitching! Killing pulseaudio didn't work. in fact then I had no sound at all. I tried: sudo dpkg-reconfigure alsa-base sudo dpkg-reconfigure alsa-utils sudo dpkg-reconfigure pulseaudio To no avail. Desparate, I was prepared to look anywhere. Even ...ahem... a Fedora s...

Hi jfet,
Thanks, I tried
Solution: un-comment the line that says #gfx640x480
I found it here:

Thanks, I tried
But I still had an invisible grub.GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=FALSE

[Solved] Mint 13 Mate 32 bit, Sound Skips
Hi folks, Enjoying Mint 13, Mate 32. It seems to run ok on this aging Tosh laptop. Thanks to Clem & all the team! I'm getting irregular little clicks & skips in music playback with Audacious & Banshee. Not noticing any obvious clues like cpu or memory issues. My sound set up on this lapt...

Re: Can't Trigger Grub Menu in Mint 13
Me too. Mint 13 Mate, upgraded from RC via Mint Update. Blank screen.
I tried grub-update as well as pressing escape or shift, no dice.
I changed the Grub timeout from 0 to 5 but it still didn't appear.

Re: [SOLVED] Kompozer not in repos?
Hi Max, Did you try to run it from the command line? That won't work if you installed into the /home directory. I have it here: ~/Installed/kompozer/ where I extracted it. kompozer-bin is in there: ~/Installed/kompozer/kompozer-bin I just open the folder & double click the file called kompozer ....

Re: [SOLVED] Kompozer not in repos?
Hi You can download the latest version from the official web page. http://kompozer.net/ It's a tarball. "Extract Here" wherever you want ( I have a folder called "installed" in my home directory) & you can run it straight out of that folder. No building or configuration requi...

Re: Classic mintMenu on Cinnamon
@funnyman Are you using LMDE? Your error message looks like one I've seen. You need to make sure that you add the ppa using the correct address. I got a message like that when I tried to add a ppa using the Ubuntu style address, but that won't work with Debian. ppa:bimsebasse/cinnamonextras needs to...

Hi Jerry,
If you're using Firefox or Chrome/ ium check your extensions & add-ons. If you disable them all, is FB ok then?
Cheers

Hi folks, I have solved this problem on my laptop running LMDE using the instructions here: http://whereofwecannotspeak.wordpress.com/2007/12/25/unmount-samba-filesystems-before-shutdown-or-reboot/ I know it says Samba, but it works for nfs. The idea is that you make a symbolic link to umountnfs &am...
