Re: Where is the new KDE menu from linux mint?

Now I really haven't had that problem with Lancelot. I just updated from the RC and everything works fine. I really like Lancelot.

Re: CD copying problem

The problem with Brasero has been fixed upstream. Below is a link to the bug report and at the end of the report is a link to a Brasero build with the fix applied. Thanks to all who helped.

Re: CD copying problem

I also had some problems using Brasero with the last version (9.10) and I also used k3b. k3b is really hard to beat when it comes to burning media. I'll have to see how Brasero is doing in Mint 9 and Ubuntu 10.04. Thanks much.

Re: CD copying problem

I've never bothered creating audio cds from Rhythmbox, so unsure what to suggest. I've heard that from a lot of people and that's probably why it's been given such a low priority. It really is handy tho. You create a play-list from your library by dragging and dropping, then go to your play-list an...

Re: CD copying problem

I can copy CDs So what's the problem? Copying CDs has nothing to do with the problem. The problem is jroque is not able to burn an audio CD while in Rhythmbox using an mp3 play-list. The Brasero plug-in for Rhythmbox is not working. This feature has worked in past versions of Ubuntu and Mint. Bug r...

Re: Linux Mint 7 'Gloria' KDE released!

I have installed Linux Mint 7 'Gloria' KDE on my 32 bit backup machine and I am very impressed. This is a very top quality distribution. Very Happy! My main machine is an Amd triple core Phenom. It's a 64 bit system and I do a lot of video and audio work. I know that there is no 64 bit KDE...

Re: In the future...

As Mint is just Ubuntu anyway that sounds like a great plan! Why not use a distro that has done all the work for you for your needs? Very true. I guess I was creating a problem when one didn't exist. Well it looks like it may be a fun weekend after all. Thanks to everybody for their comments. Eddie

Re: In the future...

Yes they are and yes I did from the very beginning. Why do you ask? If I couldn't use 64 bit apps then I couldn't get the performance I need out of Linux and I would have to go another route. I'm not going to argue about what software I need to get done what I need to do. That's not up for debate. M...

Re: In the future...

Good Day All, I also am looking forward to the 64 bit version of Mint 7. I do some video work and also quite a bit of audio work. I couldn't get the processing power I needed with 32 bit.(I have tried with Mint) Also I did not find the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 9.04 to be any less stable than the 32...

Re: Which edition to go for?

Nowadays the 64 bit version of Mint is really no less stable then the 32 bit version. You just have to make sure that the apps you use are compiled for 64 bit machines. You can also run the 32 bit version of apps. if you have the correct libraries installed. Once you see the performance increase you...

Re: x64 mint 7

Good Day All, I really would like to see the 64 bit version of LinuxMint 7 very soon. At the present time I run the 64 bit version of Ubuntu and with the increased performance I get over 32 bit I couldn't see myself going back to a 32 bit distro. I have tried the RC of Mint 7 for 32 bit and its very...

Re: Negatives about Mint

Unfortunately in the comments section of this weeks DistroWatch Weekly there are some real crazies trying to push this thing as far as they can. I would say that some of them are even MS trolls. I put my two cents in but the DW comments section has turned into one super large soapbox which is pretty...

Re: KDE 4.1.2 is out

People do have several choices when it comes to Kde 4.x.x. 1: They can evolve and adopt Kde 4.x.x. 2: They can switch to another desktop manager. 3: They can switch to MS Windows. When a person uses something for so long they find it hard to change. The main reason is because they have to learn some...

Re: The MASTER KDE CE update thread!

What a lot of people do not realize is that Kde 4.x.x will become the defacto standard in the future. Kde will finally drop support for anything that is not Kde 4.x.x and will stop development on earlier versions. Where does that leave the users who say they will not migrate to Kde 4? Well you won't...

Re: Mint 5 is slow compared to XP on same hardware

Have you tried turning off compiz? Control Panel>Look and Feel>Appearance Under Effects Tab, Set to Off. Jeremy Agreed, for the system you have you for sure want to turn off Compiz. It uses a lot of resources and XP doesn't have anything like that running. When you do that you will find your system...
