Re: Cinnamon "grid" icons

I followed this instructions posted here: https://github.com/linuxmint/nemo/issues/108#issuecomment-54789165 and I have a nice even grid on my desktop! Since this committed into Github, I expect that a future release of Nemo will have this 2D grid. In the meantime, I applied the commit and have it m...

Re: Bookmarks squished in Chrome, unlockable PGP secret key

Anyone have any ideas? I'd really like to get these resolved, especially the PGP one. I'm willing to jump through hoops, I just don't know what to do.

Bookmarks squished in Chrome, unlockable PGP secret key

Last night I completed the transition from Mint 14 to Mint 16, and WOW I'm impressed. Very fast/responsive and the attention to detail is obvious, I really like it. I'm currently working on two issues though: 1) Chrome/Chromium squishes the bookmarks in the bookmark bar together. I've got bookmarks ...

Utility to monitor Nvidia GPU utilization?

I'm looking for some sort of tool that can tell me my GPU utilization in Linux. I'm running a Nvidia GTX 560TI.
nvidia-smi shows me some information, but not utilization, which it marks as N/A.
Does anyone know of any utility that does this?

Should I upgrade my kernel to 3.8?

Linux Mint 14 uses the 3.5 kernel series, which is a bit out-of-date and is no longer officially supported. 3.8 seems to be the latest stable release, and from what I've read there's a lot of really cool changes (security, enhancements, and improvements) between 3.5 and 3.8. I'm about to reinstall M...

Re: Reallocating bad sectors

Replace that hard disk. IMMEDIATELY! Modern disks include "transparent" error detection and correction facilities that can handle a modest number of bad blocks without you ever being aware of the problem. Only when those facilities become overwhelmed by a huge number of problems do you start to see...

Reallocating bad sectors

Hello everyone, First off, I've been using Linux Mint for about six months and I think it's absolutely brilliant. I currently run Mint 14 with the Cinnamon desktop, and I really like the setup. I'm getting pretty well-versed in the command-line, and I liking have the level of control that Linux offe...
