Re: Belkin N+ Wireless USB Network Adapter on Linux Mint Glo

Is there ANYONE who has successfully been able to get this Belkin N+ Wireless USB to work? It uses the Ralink 2870 driver- model F5D8055 ver 2.0 I know they have a suggested solution over at Ubuntu but it sounds EXTREMELY complicated and prone to user screw up- and is recommended on a FRESH install....

Re: Belkin N+ Wireless USB Network Adapter on Linux Mint Gloria

Well, I guess it's back to officemax I go. No one seems to make this one work. I've been tinkering with it for 7 days now and still unsuccessful, so maybe the third time will be the charm.. Could anyone recommend a good wireless usb or card they KNOW works out of the box with linux?

Re: Belkin N+ Wireless USB Network Adapter F5D8055

Okay, I tried several things. Still no cigar. Even went and scoured ubuntu forums, and all their solutions require fresh install of ubuntu... pssssh, there has to be another way... anyone know if Helena has better support for the ralink drivers? This uses RT2870 according to documentation.

Belkin N+ Wireless USB Network Adapter on Linux Mint Gloria

Hey folks, My kids have done it again- they're two and four and curious as can be- ruined another wireless USB. I went to find an internal but they were out of them. HARD to believe, I know, a computer store OUT of wireless internal cards. Figures. Anyway, I bought another USB one, the Belkin N+ F5D...

Re: Brasero won't burn discs

I'm wondering if maybe we have a set of damaged cd's because k3b had a similar problem. I'll go out and get some more this week and try again.

Re: Brasero won't burn discs

Has the drive ever been used to burn anything in the past? Can you confirm that a cd with data can be read? Yes, the drive has been used to burn a cd just a few days ago and it does read all disc forms. The problem seems to be with Brasero. I tried upgrading it from the software portal and that did...

Brasero won't burn discs

My husband has been having difficulties using brasero on my desktop to burn discs. I've tried as well with no success. When he tries to burn a disc, this is what comes up: "Please insert a recordable cd or dvd, there is no recordable disc inserted" There is a cd inserted, and it is blank. I just tri...

Re: How Linux Mint changed your life

Linux in general changed my life by giving me back a computer I spent months researching, hesitating over, and finally buying. HP & Windows declared it dead but being persistent paid off. Thanks to Linux, it was resurrected and I'm not out my precious money. :) Mint in specific has given me courage ...

Re: Ubuntu at Best Buy!

I have no problem with the fact that stores sell systems with preconfigured Linux on them, it just helps to spread the word. What does happen is that you will get a lot of support calls, because that's what the ordinary M$ user is used to... "This and that won't work, what do I do?!?" If you really...

Re: Ubuntu at Best Buy!

I too saw Ubuntu in best buy about a year ago but I thought-- wait, it's supposed to be free. So I went home and made an iso cd. Now that was fun. And ubuntu has this request a cd thingy so I did that too. So I do have an official cd here from ubuntu but the boxed set at best buy has manuals and suc...

Re: Lose the "Linux" in Linux Mint

Some of this was hilarious. Some insane.

It's linux folks- get used to it. It's not going anywhere. Thank you Linus and all of the people throughout the history who have made this possible.

Proud LINUX mint user :)

Re: Blue Galaxy

I call it an orb, but others may call it something else. Oh okay. On the gimp tut they called it a web 2.0 button. Orb sounds cooler ;) Where can I find the kde logo? Maybe it's in the artwork section of the forum. Going to look now. EDIT- Updated below! Thanks Zwopper for the compliment. At least,...

Re: Blue Galaxy

Now that is awesome. You have a good thing going here! A couple suggestions though... The orb on the bottom could use a little bit of work. The glassy part of the orb should be adjusted some because it starts too low. Maybe move it up some, and have it form more with the outer part. The Mint logo I...
