SSVNC - how to send ALT-TAB to server?

I'm messing with using a VNC client on my Linux machine for the first time and am using SSVNC which I think is installed by default with Mint-Mate, at least I don't remember installing it. Anybody know how you send system-captured keys to the remote machine? ALT-TAB, the Windows key, etc are all cap...

Re: Clam Anti Virus Settings

It's not completely useless.

At my company we are more than 50% Linux users (host OS). We all must use Windows for parts of our jobs which us Linux guys do in VMs. We have customers who require virus scanning as part of our contacts, so for the Linux folders we share with VM's, we use Clam AV.

Re: Screen saver unlock slower to respond with external HDMI monitor

Update. This long delay ONLY happens when I have an external monitor plugged into the HDMI port. If I switch the same monitor to VGA, the login prompt pops up right away after the screen saver has kicked in.

Where does Caja store bookmarks in Mint v19.2?

Where does Caja store bookmarks in Mint v19.2?

I found an old reference to a file called .gtk-bookmarks, but I searched my system and I have no such file by that name. I do have a dozen or so bookmarks set in Caja though.

Thanks,
-Brad

Pluma - Mouse scroll wheel changes active document tabs - why?

I'm using Mint Mate v19.2 with Pluma v1.20.1 and just noticed if you scroll to the top or bottom of a document and then scroll again the same direction it changes the active document (assuming you have multiple documents open) and you start scrolling up/down from where ever you were in this next doc...

Zoom meeting doesn't recognize version

I was using the Zoom app on Linux Mint v19.2 without issue in April and at least part of May. I tried to use to join a meeting from a link and it comes up with a message that says: "Your app version needs to be 5.0 or higher to join this meeting. Please update to continue." So I downloaded...

Re: Video Grabber Software Recommendations

Actually it's not showing up under /dev anywhere. I can only assume there's no linux driver for the Turtle Beach Video Advantage USB, although it might have something to do with me running from T-rexes back when I bought it. ;-) I spent like $100 on that thing back in the day. Wow, TB doesn't even l...

Re: Video Grabber Software Recommendations

It looks like VLC will work to grab to a file if I can figure out how to get the Video Advantage USB device to be recognized as a video device (e.g. /dev/video1). It's not recognized as such on my system, I just have /dev/video0 which is my webcam.

Video Grabber Software Recommendations

Greetings, I'm looking for any pointers I can get for converting some old VHS tapes to digital format (MP4 or whatever). I have an old Turtle Beach Video Advantage USB grabber but no longer have a Windohs computer, I suppose I could try a Win VM but as I recall the TB software was not that great. I ...

Screen saver unlock slower to respond with external HDMI monitor

I'm running Linux Mint Mate v19.2 and using the default screen saver with an idle time of 25 minutes and checks in the activate when idle and lock screen boxes. I have "Pictures Folder" selected as my screen saver. As I've been at home a lot more this year I've noticed that the longer my s...

Re: Screen saver locks the screen too late

I've seen this with the screen saver in Mint Mate v19.2 as well. I'll come back to my computer after lunch or a meeting and the screen saver will be active so I wiggle the mouse. The screen saver will stop and show me whatever app was open on my external monitor. Often times my laptop screen will go...

What's the best CAD DWG File Viewer for Mint?

What's the best CAD DWG File Viewer for Mint? I have tried QCAD which is okay. I don't do a lot in CAD other than review drawings and occasionally print them. I primarily use eDrawings Viewer in a Windows VM now, just looking for a quicker way to do this in Mint without having to fire-up a VM to get...

Re: Cannot Remove Bluetooth Device

Try using terminal to unpair the headphones bluetoothctl Will bring up the bluetooth control and should list the MAC and names of the bluetooth controller and devices you have paired with. Use remove followed by the MAC address and see if it can be removed that way. Use CTRL + d to quit bluetoothct...

Can't Mount RAID after upgrade from Mint 18.2 to 19.2

I had plenty of space on my OS SSD so I made a new partition and installed v19.2 Mate 64 along side Mint v18.2 Mate 64 I've been using for 2+ years. My home folder is a software RAID0 of two mag drives and I couldn't remember if Mint would install with home mapped to a RAID, but I knew I could remap...

Re: Corrupt file when printing only to HP MFP M477fdw

Crazier yet. I powered-off her M477fdn printer, had dinner, then powered it back up and it worked! From both her desktop and my laptop on Mint v18.2. I had done power-cycles on the printer before trying to debug this issue (before the plug-in install on her desktop, but within the last few days). Ve...

Re: Corrupt file when printing only to HP MFP M477fdw

The crazy thing, I was printing from my Linux Mint v18.2 work laptop to her M477fdn this past weekend, I printed a color PDF for work. Today I tried to print a color picture for my wife from my laptop on her printer, now I get the exact same result as her Mint v18.2 desktop (blank page and error pag...

Re: Corrupt file when printing only to HP MFP M477fdw

I had this same problem with my wife's M477fdn on Mint v18.2, hplip v 3.16.3. The printer LED display always displayed a message that the print job was corrupt and printed nothing. Then I ran hp-setup and installed the plugin. Now the printer prints text and simple graphics fine (like gridlines in s...

Re: Mint Mate v18.2 - external monitor goes black periodically

Figures, right after I post I find the potential solution. I don't know that I want to risk this right now with my crazy schedule at work and my total dependency on this laptop, but will put on my to-do list.
