Re: Cinnamon running in software rendering mode on an Intel NUC7i7BNH

Hey! Cool! Looks like this worked!!! What do I do with the levels 4 and 5 now? Switch them off again? Or are these drivers then uninstalled? They also gave me the 'xorg all' and 'nouveau' drivers, which I UNselected! Please advise if you want me to UNtick both levels 4 and 5 again.... Please note; I...

Tried to run the "cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log |egrep -i "intel|modeset|glamor”" command like you asked, gives me only the prompt '>" ... no output.... Can that be correct?

Re: Gnome 3.10 on Linux Mint 17 (Cinnamon) Problem

I have Gnome-shell 3.10.4 running smoothly on my Linux Mint 17 Qiana.
Just installed it via terminal; I did install the gnome-shell gnome-extensions and gnome-session-manager
Had no problems with it; can open the Gnome Tweak tool without problems as well!

Re: Almost perfect install on an iMac.. Almost. :)

Hi, I've installed several Ubuntu / Mint versions on my Mac. It's not that difficult.... But .... Make sure in OSX to free up space first with Disk Utility! Do that on the OSX side. If you want to install Ubuntu you should download the iso that says 'suitable for iMac'. They have / make specific iso...

Re: 'Mint menu' became too big, why?

Hi There! I've got exactly the same 'thing' in Qiana! When I tryout several themes in Cinnamon and activate them to see what they look like, with each new theme my menu gets wider and wider... till almost the whole screen is covered from left to right! Ok, log off and on again does help but I think ...

Hi hpmc13; I read your advice and most certainly will try it! I hope it will work out as I really have tons of mail-folders filled with mails from over the years... In the meantime I found out that I can import mbox by mbox by mbox but this is going to take me 'years' so to speak as each folder and ...

Hi, Enlightenment; question of taste... I tried it also but I find it 'not ready' yet... It's all too small, detailed etc but ... I prefer Ubuntu and Linux Mint really. Re: Black Screen after login

As far as I know, yes indeed a Cinnamon 'bug' / 'feature' but ... you can sort of adapt the screen (color) to your needs to toy with 'Login Window' from the Cinnamon menu! In there you have an option to set the color to eg. green or gray instead of the dull black. I have adapted my login window to o...

Re: newly installed apps not showing up in the menu

I switched from Windows 7, XP etc to Linux Mint 14 Nadia and I love it!!! My experience; may sound silly but … IF your (newly) installed app does NOT show up in the menu; reboot! Simple; after that they SHOULD appear in the menu. Reboot only takes a couple of minutes; if not in the menu afterwards, ...
