Re: Linux Mint 8 RC1 Bug Thread

I can't get Mint Menu to update. I installed 3 games, but no game tab appears and they do not show up in the search bar. I added them by using the menu editing GUI, but still they do not show up. They do appear and work normally in the Gnome menu and the custom 3 tab Ubuntu menu. nice over all thoug...

Re: Linux Mint 7 KDE RC1 Bug Thread

Nice work, installed on my Acer Aspire One with no problems. I have noticed one annoying bug though. When I click on the shutdown widget in the panel, the menu that pops up with shutdown options (the one that has the planet on it) is distorted. It looks like it got squished and is not its normal wid...

Re: Folding@Home

I'm in, have it running on an old inspiron 1501 we keep around as a "GASP" windows box for the rare instances we need XP. In my defense we are graduate students and have to work it powerpoints which don't always retain all their animations when moving between Impress and Powerpoint....

Re: running Mint on an Acer One with a 160gb HD

I have run both the Main Edition and Mint Xcfe on a Acer Aspire One, both ran great. My Acer is the SSD model, but I upgraded the RAM to 1.5G. I am sure the XFCE or Fluxbox edition would run great on your One.

Re: Shutdown command for applet

while Googling I encounterd the following command. gnome-power-cmd.sh shutdown with my very limited command line knowledge I interpret this to run a script called gnome-power-cmd.sh with a shutdown command modifer. I tried this on an old laptop I use for playing around and it appears to work. This s...

Re: Linux Mint 6 x64 released!

Hi Clem, great news. Is there an upgrade tool or script from Mint 5 x64? I'd rather try one and then clean install if it goes bad

Awesome. Sometimes know is just a little too easy for me and I confuse myself. Here I was copying and pasting all through the file system. :)

changing the default cursor/pointer in gnome

I had changed my pointer/cursor in XFCE to look like the one in Vista with the Aero-drop cursor theme from gnome-look. I have now switched desktops back to gnome and want to use it in gnome, but I can't make it work. Could someone tell me how? The cursor/pointer was the only thing I liked about Vist...

Re: Should there be a netbook remix?

Yes, that would be great. We (my fiance and I) are running Main edition on her Aspire One (8GB harddrive, upgraded to 1.5G of RAM) and it works great. I installed maximus and the window picker applet from Netbook remix, and installed a very compact Firefox theme. Oh and its also important to make it...

Re: Fluxbox conky config

Thanks! I think maybe I just don't understand Fluxbox? Can you have icons on your desktop like in XFCE and gnome? I could never figure out how to put anything on my desktop. I ultimately installed the base xfce desktop on the rest of the fluxbox CE distro and ended up with a nice light distro that t...
