Re: HP printer worked as charm in LM18/19, but cant connect via usb in LM20
HP Officejet Pro 8710. Had the same issues. Was able to finally get it up as a "network printer" but scanning didn't work with either xsane or simplescan. For me, it was easier to just roll back my snapshot to 19.3 and forget about mint20 for now. Upon rollback, all worked perfectly once a...

Dual boot win10 with raid on dell xps13
I was able to successfully shrink my win10 partition and install LinuxMint18.3 Cinnamon on my new Dell XPS13 with a sata hd set up as "raid". It was necessary to change the sata drive setting in bios from RAID-On to AHCI. Mint then was able to see my windows partition, install and install ...

Re: Libre Office update to 4.4.0.3 broken?
Never did get L.O. working again. I installed Open Office and used it for the brief period I needed to before I upgraded to Rebecca 17.1 I did manage to somehow get a broken Libreoffice-common-core package that I could not repair using synaptic's broken package section. It just kept showing up as br...

Libre Office update to 4.4.0.3 broken?
Update manager updated my Libre Office to version 4.4.0.3 yesterday. Today, went to print and the print dialog pops up, doesn't really show anything inside the box and just hangs until I force quit which causes Libre Office to quit. Mint17, LTS using Cinnamon with HP Officejet Pro 8600 Was working f...

Mint 16 searching for printer driver every startup
Not an earth shattering issue, but MInt 16-Cinnamon pops up a box stating that it's searching for printer drivers every startup. I have an HP Officejet 8600 installed, both usb direct and as networked. Also have hplip installed. Everything from printing to scanning to wireless printing works flawles...

Re: Help with Expo
I too miss the details in the workspace switcher. I use 4 different workspaces at all times and not knowing what is on which workspace really is a downer for me. So much, that I'm using mate just because of it. I also really miss being able to configure my panel the way I like it, resize it, space i...

You need to edit the cinnamon.css as root. Sounds like you tried as user.

Re: System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon
Update from my mint 13 "Mate" box. Have been using it ferociously for a week now. Extensive use of libre office writer, calc and draw. Using gnucash frequently along with always having firefox and chrome open. Managed to tweak settings in mate to look desirable to me. Installed dropbox, sp...

I've had better luck using mint13 with the mate environment. Try logging in with mate and see if it helps.hugo62 wrote:Did you also try a Gnome Classic login? Re: System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon
3 freezes first thing this morning using libre office. Just for kicks I installed apache open office, got the same freezes. Bit the bullet, booted into mate, got my spreadsheet work done, spent the rest of the time making mate look somewhat attractive so I can continue working. Have kept all spreads...

Re: System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon
I have come to the conclusion that this version of Mint, as it stands now is not usable. (as noted by all of the posts on this freezing subject) Too many freezes, too much lost time in duplicating work lost at freeze. Simple spreadsheet work today caused 6 freezes in less than an hour. Seems to work...

Re: System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon
I was not able to duplicate freeze up using the writer, table cut & paste. Have been happily ctrl C, ctrl V both within and outside the inserted table for about 10 min with no freeze ups. Also have Chromium, T-bird and spideroak uploader running. I did disable hardware acceleration and anti-alia...

Re: System freezing - Mint 13 Cinnamon
Cinnamon on Mint 13 Maya Computer specs below. I've had numerous lock ups / freeze ups. I've always been able to ctrl-alt-backspace out but have obviously lost any unsaved data that I was working on. This appears to happen with either firefox or chrome open and Libre Office. It happened 4 times in a...

Re: Mint 13 Thunderbird, Gmail & Calendars: Slow
Update: Disabled the lightning extension and the Unity launcher integration and it's speeded up T-Bird dramatically. Been working with Mint13 cinnamon most of today, it's locked up 3 times which is very annoying. Had to ctrl-alt-backspace to log out and back in each time. Hopefully, seeing as this i...

Re: Mint 13 Thunderbird, Gmail & Calendars: Slow
Using mint13 stable with cinnamon. Inspirion 1525N, full laptop. Thunderbird with lighting extension is so slow I might as well use snail mail. I'm going to let it run and update all of my imap accounts (save to local drive) and see if that speeds it up. So far, not overly impressed with mint13. See...

Google-Gadgets gone
It appears as if google desktop and google gadgets (sidebar) are no more. Friday, September 02, 2011 12:48 PM In 2004, Google launched Google Desktop, a program designed to make it easy for users to search their own PCs for emails, files, music, photos, Web pages and more. Desktop has been used by t...

A thought about Mint 10 Julia, Gnome3, Unity
So far, I don't like gnome3 and I don't like Unity. I've tried Xfce and LMDE and while both are good, neither are as polished and as stable as gnome2 on mint 10. I have over 20 associates, friends and family running Mint 10, they all positively love it. I also run my corporation on it as well. Consi...

Except that I'm on hour 3 of the install... peppermint took 10 minutes. What's up with that??
