Re: Installing Mint 13 (Maya) 32-bit

Update: Okay, now the same messed up screen appears with a DVD boot into Mint 13. I thought for sure the DVD would be the answer. I installed the right 32-bit format and the MD5 # matched up correctly. So, I did everything on my end as far as I know. Perhaps it is not possible to install this on a 1...

Re: Installing Mint 13 (Maya) - USB installations not workin

I tried LinuxLive and NetBootin and got the same results when booting up Maya: a messed-up screen. The background is blue and the menu is mostly off the screen. When I open a utility or program from the menu, I get nothing but a blue box with a white border. So ... I guess Maya does not support USB ...

Re: Installing Mint 13 (Maya) 32-bit - Persistence????

I am going to try the Linux Live USB Creator and currently installing the .ISO file on it. However, I selected 2,030 MB (the full amount) for Peristent Mode and am not sure if that was wise. Does that only apply to the USB? When I install Mint on the PC, will it install the Persistent mode as well? ...

Re: Mint 14 (Nadia) - Secure?

Thanks for the replies. I have not used Mint at all so nothing has been "set". I have just been reading up on it so far and am eager to install and try it. I guess I will stick with the older Maya version for its security. But what are some of the newer features that you like in the newest version (...

Mint 14 (Nadia) - Secure?

I'm concerned about something that I read about the newest stable release of Mint 14 (Nadia) - Cinnamon. Apparently, the administrator no longer needs to enter the sudo paswords to accept changes to the system such as downloads which has become automatic. Did I read that correctly? If so, isn't that...

Re: Installing Mint 13 (Maya) 32-bit

Doesn't LinuxLive just install Mint on the USB drive and not on the PC's hard drive? I want to install it on the PC, not the USB drive. Also, I do not want to have to worry about removing LinuxLive or the other program (if I use that one) after I install Mint. Would that be an issue after I install ...

Installing Mint 13 (Maya) 32-bit

I want to install Maya on an old 32-bit PC that currently has XP Home on it. I want to install Mint over XP. I tried burning the .ISO file from the Mint download page to a DVD but the hash # did not correctly match up. I copied the .ISO file to a USB stick and the hash # matches up so I would like t...
