Re: Any musicians out there using Mint/Linux?

I haven't used JACK yet, but heard many great things about it. Definitely spend the time learning the software and configurations so when its time to record you don't have to stop and learn. This way you can focus on the music and talent. The best way is to record an improvised song with multiple tr...

Local Host Not Appearing in Game Browser

I'm having a problem running local games on my LAN and connecting to them via in-game browser. All of my computers are connected to a 16 port switch and then the switch is connected to a Router. I will host the game on one computer and it should appear in the browser on the other computers... But it...

Re: Any musicians out there using Mint/Linux?

Very nice everyone! Thanks for the link All41 MartyMint - So are you saying "low latency" kernel is no longer needed for multi-track recording? I noticed in Mint there is a setting in audio for "latency". Its a slider... I moved it over like .1 and my scratch-tracks record perfectly with a click tra...

Re: Thank You Mint Developers

I will try and make a donation... its difficult because I already make donations to our own website (gamersonlinux.com) and I have donated to CodeWeavers in support of Wine.

Re: Any musicians out there using Mint/Linux?

I'm a Drummer, guitarist and singer.... I write all of my own songs. I've recorded a few albums years ago... like almost 18 years ago... using Cakewalk in Windows. I'm always rehearsing my songs and practicing. I have recently recorded some scratch-tracks in Audacity in Mint 18.3 I recorded them wit...

Thank You Mint Developers

This is a formal and appreciative Thank You to all the Mint developers! I have spent the last 7 years using Mint at home and at work. Initially I used Fedora on my home server to host games, then tried Ubuntu but finally settled on Mint. I love how Cinnamon combines a lot of Windows features like ri...

Re: Crossover Linux worth the money?

15 thousand games is pretty good... at the same time, how can they guarantee all of those game will run? That is a lot of scripts... I didn't realize Wine required even more steps for using a 64-bit prefix? I've used 64-bit Wine in PlayOnLinux with a 64-bit wineprefix for many games and it runs nice...

Re: Get this game free while it lasts

Sanctum 2 is pretty fun specially in co-op with Steam friends.
Unfortunately you can't play it offline in a LAN, but online its great.
It can get kind of repetitive too

Re: Steam games on Mint?

With older hardware it really comes down to which games you want to play. These days any hardware can run games, but the older the video card, you can only play older games. I have a Chromebook with Ubuntu 12.10 and I can play Torchlight and some DOS games and 2D games. I was actually able to play S...

Re: I cannot get Quake from GOG to work

Here is a guide for Darkplaces Engine and Quake
Darkplaces Guide
All you need is the PAK files for it to run in Darkplaces. You get a lot more options and settings with this engine.

If the sync problem happens in Windows, then Wine will just inherit the same problem.
Have you found any solutions for Windows?

Re: Cant launch roblox from browser.

What engine is Roblox made with? Looks like it might run in Windows XP still: Roblox The windows installation instructions are pretty simple, but do not tell us what is really going on. Maybe it uses the Unity engine which has a Unity Player that is compatible with Browsers. Unfortunately it won't w...

Re: Crossover Linux worth the money?

I have never used Crossover because many stubborn Windows games require patched versions of Wine which are not supported by Crossover. So I have stuck with PlayOnLinux and it has served me really really well. In fact I have posted step-by-step guides on how to install many AAA, indie, retail, steam,...

I just recently posted a step-by-step guide on Microsoft Flight Simulator 3 in PlayOnLinux It runs really really well! I also recently tested Microsoft Flight Simulator 1 in Windows 8 and everything is fine except the controls for your joystick have to be mapped manually for the axis. I bet the same...

Re: Where is the Wine savegame location? Need a bit of clarification on Wine

I have a feeling Google Drive doesn't work in the Wine environment. I manually upload my save games from each prefix (virtual drive in PlayOnLinux) to backup my games. Most games actually keep your saves in ~/Documents You will find a "My Games" Directory with save games from different games and eng...

Re: Playing Hearthstone on Serena

If I remember correctly, Hearthstone uses Battle.net right? Recently Battle.net has upgraded to Visual C 2015 Wine isn't natively compatible with that so you will need to manually install vcrun2015 before installing Battle.net Here are the steps: Installing Visual C 2015 in PlayOnLinux Miscellaneous...

Re: Elder Scrolls III Oblivion

Did you try this step-by-step guide: Ovblivion in PlayOnLinux

Any time I experience glichy textures or missing textures, its probably related to Direct x(d3dx9) You can always try different versions of Wine. Definitely give Wine 2.0-staging a try.
