Re: My panel doesn't work anymore
It doesn't work in my guest account. Except for one weird thing. My primary account doesn't show the bluetooth icon, hasn't since I upgraded to 16.04. But in my guest account, not only does it show up, but I can click on it and it will open. No other icon on the panel will.

Re: [SOLVED]17.2 slow and randomly freezing
I'll try that, I could use persistence, my laptop likes to lock up completely every couple days and I have to restart and reset all the settings and download chrome again.

Re: 17.2 slow and randomly freezing
Tried a couple times with Unetbootin and then i saw the rufus post. That seems to do the trick, although I still get the no disk caching/ disk caching writetrough error at the beginning but it doesn't seem to be affecting anything else.

[SOLVED]17.2 slow and randomly freezing
I've been using 17.1 live on a friends laptop. I do this because mint is lightning quick compared to WIn8. So I thought i'd try 17.2. Used unetbootin like the last time, used the same usb stick. When i checked medium integrity it was fine. Then problems start. I get a screen that says no disk cache ...

Would this be under mouse or keyboard settings?

weird keyboard issue
I have an HP laptop I was going to convert to Linux, but it has a strange problem. When running Linux Mint from usb, while I type, randomly my conversation is cut and pasted. For instance I might type: "I like linux mint," but it will show up as " I lik milinux t." It doesn't do ...

Re: Kernel upgrade massive fail
Tried that, it's still telling me the hcd patch file can't be found.
When I unpack that deb you showed me it creates a folder with three folders in it, the firmware file obviously I know where that goes but are the files in etc and usr supposed to go somewhere as well?

Re: Kernel upgrade massive fail
Ok just so we are on the same page you want me to revert to 3.13.0-40 and then everything should work, or do i need to remove the hcd file from lib\firmware and start over? Also, I had forgotten about this, one of the fixes I attempted before kernel upgrades was placing the firmware files in lib\fir...

Re: Kernel upgrade massive fail
Ok, upgraded kernel to 3.16.0-25. Got a bunch of usb error messages but my usb keyboard and mouse work and so does my usb hub, so I have no idea what those messages are about. Tried the above instructions, now get the following alarming return from dmesg | grep -i bluetooth [ 7.795809] usb 1-8.4: Pr...

Re: Kernel upgrade massive fail
Tried that, it removes the headset from the list and I have to re pair it. What annoys the ever loving crap out of me is that Bluetooth worked just fine in LM16. I am not the first person who has this problem. They haven't bothered to fix it. I tried Rebecca on a usb stick, same results. So for gigg...

Re: Kernel upgrade massive fail
Also upgraded my kernel to 3.13 40, nothing. Comp still works so I'm staying with it. What gets me is this is what I get when I try to connect to services: http://oi60.tinypic.com/1z2dgk4.jpg And the Bluetooth icon is green, showing a connection. But when I go to sound preferences the headset is not...

Re: Kernel upgrade massive fail
It was my understanding that 17.1 would be available via update manager in a week or so. I suppose I could always blow away my current installation and start over all my data is on a second drive.

Kernel upgrade massive fail
I tried to upgrade to 3.16.0-24 ( i think) because bluetooth wasn't work in 17 Mate and that was the last solution I hadn't tried. Well 3.16 was booting up fine and then it said the usb drivers had all failed. Since my keyboard and mouse are both usb, I can't login, even though I got to the login sc...

Re: Hardware or Linux mint problem?
I actually do, I just need to figure out where I put it. I just moved. Just one thing though, if it was the power supply would the fan still run? Because it does, and the power light on the front of the box stays on.

Re: Hardware or Linux mint problem?
This is a desktop set up. Im accessing the hard drive by clicking on my computer and it shows both the hard drives that are in the computer and i guess it mounts whatever one I click on. I guess I can pull the hard drive, and try the live usb again. update: Is it possible my hard drive is bad? The l...

Hardware or Linux mint problem?
My computer is dropping either into suspend or turning the monitors off as soon as I try to execute a program that accesses the hard drive ( nemo, vlc, banshee, etc). I need to know if this is Mint or my computer is old and about to die ( I think it's ten years old, maybe older I bought it used from...
