Re: Monitor refresh rate drops massively for no reason

I would except for the fact that as I mentioned in my original post the problem was not regular but only occurs occasionally and so I'm not entirely sure that booting from the cd would prove a lot other than that it didn't happen while I was booting. Just out of interest how do I remove the binary d...

Re: Monitor refresh rate drops massively for no reason

You are still using the NVIDIA driver, now the 319 one again. Please uninstall it (sudo nvidia-installer --uninstall) and try running Linux without any NVIDIA binary driver . Sorry for being a n00b but how do I do that because in software sources where I control which driver to use it doesn't give ...

Re: Monitor refresh rate drops massively for no reason

It appears you still have a driver installed. Please uninstall the driver from Software Sources too (choose the "nouveau" option to get rendering back, then click Apply). Ok so followed that went into software sources switched to the nouveau option and did inxi -Gx again and got the following: Grap...

Re: Monitor refresh rate drops massively for no reason

Ok so I ran sudo nvidia-installer --uninstall and that worked successfully i think as when I ran inxi -Gx again it came up with Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GF119 [GeForce GT 610] bus-ID: 04:00.0 X.Org: 1.13.0 driver: nvidia Resolution: 1024x768@60.0hz GLX Renderer: N/A GLX Version: N/A Direct Rendering: ...

Re: Monitor refresh rate drops massively for no reason

What you could do, is boot a Mint DVD. Then you don't have to mess with your installed system to see how well Mint behaves with no NVIDIA driver installed. And with no NVIDIA driver, I also mean no binary driver from Software Sources (if that is what you mean by automatic installation). Sorry Yes I...

Re: Monitor refresh rate drops massively for no reason

The inxi -Gx output looks OK. I would try running this GeForce GT 610 card without any NVIDIA driver to see if that fixes it. Then you can rule out driver issues completely. You can run sudo nvidia-installer --uninstall to remove a manually installed NVIDIA driver. So would that leave me with just ...

Re: Monitor refresh rate drops massively for no reason

Could you run this in terminal and post the output: inxi -Gx Did the problem also occur before you installed the NVIDIA driver? Sure I got this: Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GF119 [GeForce GT 610] bus-ID: 04:00.0 X.Org: 1.13.0 driver: nvidia Resolution: 1024x768@60.0hz GLX Renderer: GeForce GT 610/PCIe/S...

Monitor refresh rate drops massively for no reason

Hi i have a problem I am using Linux Mint Nadia 64bit and am having problems with my screens refresh rate occasionally (once or twice a day) dropping right down, you can tell by the fact that the screen starts flickering and then lagging and then it drops to refreshing once every 10 seconds and some...

Re: How to install the Nvidia proprietary drivers in LinuxMi

Hi I have followed the installation and when i finish and go to start mdm it gives me an error and then the error log comes up with this report of the errors: NVIDIA: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 304.88, but this NVIDIA driver component has version 319.17. Please make sure that...
