Re: Monitor resolution not listed in xrandr and display settings

Is there a way to have it switch automatically between the half resolution and the full resolution when I turn on or off the picture by picture feature ? If the resolution was switching automatically in Mint 17, then adding the monitor’s correct EDID to a config file may work. However, the modesett...

Re: Use external monitor?

That picture is the login screen, which comes at the end of the boot process. The grub menu appears at the beginning. If holding the Shift key does not show the menu, then try holding down the Esc key while starting, or press the Esc key once after the BIOS info is displayed. If that doesn’t work, t...

Re: Intel HD Graphics Control Panel Color Adjustment Option in Mint

Well, it doesn't show any change for me. Any idea why? Did you try using the default Window Manager and switching to the Intel GPU? The only other thing I can suggest is trying this command, which also lists the display and screen info options. This info comes from using xcalib -help : usage: xcali...

Re: Intel HD Graphics Control Panel Color Adjustment Option in Mint

I think it's because I'm using compiz ( not 100% sure). I enabled Compiz in MATE and xcalib still works, but didn't change any settings in that window manager. The link you posted for using Compiz also mentions xcalib. The only problem was getting the changes to work on only one monitor, which that...

Re: Intel HD Graphics Control Panel Color Adjustment Option in Mint

So does that mean I can't change colors using my Nvidia GPU? Yes. Try the xcalib program, which can change the brightness, contrast and gamma: apt install xcalib To change brightness: xcalib -a -b 2 To change contrast: xcalib -a -co 90 To change gamma: xcalib -a -gc 1.1 To reverse changes: xcalib -...

Re: Intel HD Graphics Control Panel Color Adjustment Option in Mint

But I can't change the colors using nvidia control panel. There aren't any options to do that in the Nvidia Control Panel You will see that when the laptop’s HDMI port is internally connected to the Intel GPU instead of the Nvidia GPU. This will be seen: nvidia-settings prime displays.jpg Try using...

Re: Help needed for Nvidia / Vulkan

Could someone with working nvidia vulkan driver post the contents of their nvidia related json files in the vulkan folder/s please. I'm thinking maybe I'm missing some declaration Your /usr/share/vulcan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json file lists this version in your 7th post: { "file_format_version" : "1.0.0...

Re: nvidia-settings lost after login

The problem is, as soon as I open the nvidia-settings UI, the brightness setting is reset and I don't know why. Are you experiencing the same with Manjora KDE? The only way I was able to duplicate your problem one time was when the .nvidia-settings-rc file was open, then I opened Nvidia Settings an...

Re: Enabling 1050 TI on my laptop

If you want Secure Boot enabled for an added layer of security, then the Nvidia kernel modules that were built during the Nvidia driver installation will need to be signed. Many distributions require modules to be signed with a trusted key when loaded into kernels running on UEFI systems with Secure...

Re: Use external monitor?

The lsusb command was supposed to be used with the adapter connected and disconnected. Try testing these kernel parameters by editing the kernel command line. The effect will only last for one session. At the GRUB boot menu select the correct line but don’t press Enter. Press the “ E ” key to edit. ...

Re: nvidia-settings lost after login

But what about the other settings like brightness, contrast, gamma, ...? These can be changed in Nvidia Settings and are saved when you click the Confirm and Quit buttons, to the .nvidia-settings-rc file, a hidden file in your Home directory. The setting for any attribute listed in that file, such ...

Re: nvidia-settings lost after login

The settings in the Display program will override some settings made in Nvidia Settings, even when saved to a file.

First make the changes to the monitors in Nvidia Settings. Then open the Display program and click the Apply button.

Re: Enabling second monitor, Cinnamon goes to fallback mode

You can enable Base Mosaic mode in Nvidia Settings. Click the Advanced button, which makes the "Enable Base Mosaic" option available. Set all displays to be on X screen 0. This method doesn’t always work.

The other option is to replace one of the Nvidia cards with an AMD card.

Re: Help needed for Nvidia / Vulkan

zxuiji, I was able to install vulcan-utils on another system with a GeForce 1050 GPU after adding the graphics-drivers PPA, using the command apt install vulcan-utils , which also installed vulcan-tools . However, running vulcaninfo gave an output that it wasn’t installed, with a message that the co...

Re: Use external monitor?

I’ve read many reviews about the frequent problems of connecting monitors through USB-C ports, which include no monitor detection, dropping the video connection, wor...

Where did you get the vulcan-utils and vulcan-tools packages?

I suggest you do the steps I did to download and install the Vulkan SDK package.

Re: PC monitor display problem

I tried to simulate your situation by using the monitor’s Horizontal Position setting to move the screen’s display to the right. By testing xrandr --transform commands, I could move the right side to the left so that everything was visible but the left side would move behind the black bar, just like...

Re: PC monitor display problem

Use this command:
xrandr --output VGA-0 --transform 1,0,35,0,1,0,0,0,1

If that doesn't help, then log out and back in and try it again.
