Re: Cumbria shootings cum creation debate thread. Happy?

If scientific proofs and arguments are the basis of your faith then it will just as easily be shaken by a stronger counterpoint or proof, and even though i may not be able to provide one, there will surely come a time when you will stumble onto one that convinces you. Found this for you to wrestle ...

Re: Cumbria shootings cum creation debate thread. Happy?

Now that everyone has had a good laugh...Do any of you have ANY facts to support your position? :D Also, whatever errors that may exist in Carbon dating etc. they certainly cannot be in the range of several million years. Yes, that is certainly true! Carbon dating is for organic matter only, and org...

Re: Cumbria shootings cum creation debate thread. Happy?

I am a Muslim by birth, yet i refuse to take the scriptures literally (Adam and Eve could well have been two classes of individuals scattered all over the earth, rather than exactly two people, if at all one wanted to reconcile the scriptural account with the present population and the age of the U...

Re: Gunman goes on ramage in Cumbria

He dismisses God on the grounds that Christians (and Jews and Muslims) recognize that there is only one God. It is faulty logic. When I read the quote, I understood him to be saying, "Why is this god real, and all of the other gods who anyone believes in or has ever believed in, are not real?&...

Re: Gunman goes on ramage in Cumbria

No matter how airtight you believe your theories are I can show how they are flawed. You can do the same to mine, but that is irrelevant . I know the truth. Not much point in having a discussion with you then, since you're always " right ". You can't convince a believer of anything...

Re: Gunman goes on ramage in Cumbria

FedoraRefugee, any thoughts on that Stephen Roberts quote? I dismiss all other gods because there is only one God. Scripture tells us this and the Bible is the inspired Word of God. I believe this because Jesus Christ endorsed the Bible and was crucified and rose again the third day. This is indisp...

Re: Gunman goes on ramage in Cumbria

FedoraRefugee I don't particularly want to get wrapped up in a huge discussion here, but I have to be clear on one thing. As a student of the natural sciences, "creation science" is one of the biggest misnomers I can think of. There is an extremely minuscule amount of science in any kind ...

Re: Gunman goes on ramage in Cumbria

I suggest you go back to Genesis and read about the Tower of Babel. I'll pass, since I don't believe any of it anyway. That is too bad, but that is the choice you were put here to make. :D Many Christians do not understand that and would either drive you up the wall evangelizing to you or else by o...

Re: Gunman goes on ramage in Cumbria

Don't forget, there have been many, many other creation stories besides the one in the Bible. Peoples from all over the world have come up with them. Take your pick. True! :D There are also stories of a world wide flood in most every culture. Also, look at other similarities such as stories of drag...

Re: Gunman goes on ramage in Cumbria

Hey, I've given up on defending the thread, so carry on. I'll go and introduce hypocrisy into the whole thing now: The two accounts go like this (very simplified): Creation: An all powerful being created the world as it is in 6 days, and we are descendants of two people. Evolution: The big bang cre...

Re: Ubuntu Lucid to Mint Isadora

Just as a footnote, I successfully installed the rt kernel. The only snag is it is on version 2.6.31-9-rt whereas the generic kernel is 2.6.31-14-generic (unless it has been updated within the last week, I did not check). In any case, it is not hard to force Grub to boot into the rt kernel. All you ...

Re: Grub2 – Too Many Options

Braindead people are not my concern! They will remain braindead. That is no reason to dumb down Linux. If you cannot explain to your brothers that they need to just ignore memory test, recovery, and older kernels then you should just put them out of their misery right now! At the least nominate them...

Re: Gunman goes on ramage in Cumbria

Well seeing that that I did not mention any other country but my own and seeing that you have chosen to reinterpreted it as something else I suggest you reread the post. To tell the truth I don't care what other countries do about their gun laws its not my country my business. OK, please accept my ...

Re: Linux Mint Studio

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuStudio/PackageList edit: What you could do, from mint, is to copy the block of packages in the wiki and paste them in your terminal behind: sudo apt-get install This will DL everything in one chunk. Do the dependancies first just to keep things clean then do the package...

Re: Ubuntu Lucid to Mint Isadora

What happens in most Linux distros is you actually do keep two kernels! The older one is for backup in case the newer one does not work or quits working. This way you can select the older kernel on reboot and still have a working machine to fix the newer kernel. Of course strange things can happen s...

Re: Linux Mint Studio

I responded to your other post but I did want to note here that you would not use the Mint CD but would instead just paste the Mint repo into your Ubuntu /etc/apt/sources.list file. Then you would just use your package manager to install the applicable packages. :D

Re: Ubuntu Lucid to Mint Isadora

Well...Go back to that thread you linked, last post of page 4 I give directions to install the real time Ubuntu kernel: sudo apt-get install linux-image-rt I did mention that I have not actually tried this myself and do not know what kind of trouble you could get in, but look at it this way, the wor...

Re: XFCE or Gnome?

I prefer Xfce because...well...I just like it best, even on fast computers. :D

edit: Just wanted to add that it seems the Xfce spin is always less buggy than the Gnome spin. I do not know whether to attribute this to Merlwiz's work or if losing Gnome simply eliminates most of the bugs... :D

Re: Ubuntu Lucid to Mint Isadora

If it were me I would just use Ubuntu Studio. In all honesty the only thing Mint brings to the table are the Mint tools and the default configuration. Basically Linux is Linux. If you wanted you could just add the Mint repo to Ubuntu (making sure the versions match of course) so you could install th...
