Re: Can't open mounted USB hdd's

For a grumpy troll........you sure are freakin' helpful. I looked for two days for that. I guess it's just knowing how to look for it. Thanks again.

Can't open mounted USB hdd's

Hi, I've been having some problem with mounted drives. Every time i double click on a thumb drive, or usb external hdd, it says "Could not display "/media/slimmons/driveName". The location is not a folder". I have noticed that it will open if i right click->open as root, but I can't get any of the d...

Re: Linux Mint Raid 0

Bleh, looks like I might have to repeat the entire process again. I can't get any thumb drives or mounted hard drives (hot swap, or USB) to open without requiring root access, and no permissions will change on the machine. It's funny because the reason I switched to Mint was because I had to rebuild...

Re: Problem opening mounted drives?

I've tried just about everything I can find online, and I think maybe I have messed up my /etc/fstab file. This is what I have in the file: #<file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> # / was on /dev/sdf1 during installation UUID=ef96b257-59a6-4759-ac50-7c08e008026d / ext4 errors=rem...

Re: Problem opening mounted drives?

I have tried opening nemo with gksu and changing my permissions........and I'm the only user on the computer and I have full access, but I still can't access any drive without running as root. I did notice that if I tried to change my permissions, it just changed them right back before I even closed...

Re: Linux Mint Raid 0

Was one of the minor details that didn't work immediately, that mounted USB drives won't open? For some reason when I connected my USB HDD to put my files on my new Mint install it won't let me open it, saying "The location is not a folder". I've looked around, and asked on a couple of forums, and n...

Problem opening mounted drives?

Hi, I recently installed Linux Mint and I had a bit of a mishap. I plugged in a usb thumb drive, and it said it couldn't open it. It brought up a menu to ask me what I wanted to use to open it with, and I chose to open it as a folder. Now every time I double click on the thumb drive mounted on the d...

Re: Linux Mint Raid 0

Hey, I got through everything very successfully until "sudo blkid". Just for clarification on this insanely useful tutorial, you said that the two swap partitions (from sda1, sdb1) would have the same UUID, and on Minty's post he says they don't, and in your fstab file under swap you just list both ...

Re: Linux Mint Raid 0

I think so, thanks for the help. I'll get that disk started. Does it have to be any specific size, since I'm using two 1tb hdd's? I have a spare 320gb hdd, will that be ok?

Linux Mint Raid 0

There is another forum post about setting up raid 0 on Linux Mint, but it is hard to follow and is very specific to the person asking the question. Can anyone give simple instructions on partition sizes, boot loader locations, and mdadm commands? For the sake of simplicity, let's assume I would like...
