Loading symbol after using Firefox

Hi,

I have 19.3 cinnamon, and often, after I start Firefox I see the round loading symbol whenever I am on the desktop or on the top bar of any application. That still persists after closing Firefox.

Any idea what it is and how to fix it?

Thanks.

Mint 19.3 slow in Virtualbox 6.1.4

Hi, I run Virtualbox 6.1.4 on Linux Mint 19.3 cinnamon. I want a second Mint 19.3 in Virtualbox to play around. But its kind of slowly reacting. I gave it 4 cpu cores and 16 GB of ram (Host has 32). The best config I have so far is: PAE/NX enabled Nested VT-x/AMD-V enabled 128 mb video memory Contro...

Re: Weird laptop booting behaviour

Updating the bios did not help.

But reverting the Linux Kernel back to 4.15.0.54 helped!. Now if you restart Mint 19.3, it does a restart and boots again normaly. With Kernel 5.0 and 5.3, if you restart, it goes into a boot loop, but not if you shut it down.

Re: Weird laptop booting behaviour

Apparently, if the boot loop happens, the laptop reboots so soon, that you can not even press the button to get into the bios. Maybe the OS puts something into the RAM, that is persistent after reboot and triggers some kind of bug in the laptop?

Re: Weird laptop booting behaviour

Even without cloning, just freshly installed Mint 19.3 cinnamon without windows, goes into boot loop. Is that using the same disk? Can you startup with a live usb and do inxi -Fzx in a terminal? Re: Weird laptop booting behaviour

Little update:

Even without cloning, just freshly installed Mint 19.3 cinnamon without windows, goes into boot loop. 19.2 and 19.1 do not do this.

Weird laptop booting behaviour

So, this is not my laptop, so I don't know any specific laptop details, other than it is a Lenovo. It had Mint 19.3 on it and Windows 7 on a second partition. Everything worked. Then he decided to get a larger drive and to use clonezilla to clone the 500gb drive to the new 1TB drive. This apparently...

Three questions: Taskbar, Symbolsize and folder view type

Hi, I just installed Mint 19.2 xfce. I come from 19 cinnemon. I like the speed and simplicity of xfce. But I have three things to ask. My taskbar stacks some symbols. For example, the network symbol and the update symbold are rather small and stacked vertically. If I open something, those symbols ar...

In the case of firefox, this only scales text, but not buttons.

Re: increase symbold and text size for one display?

I found something. You can set the general scaling to High DPI, that increases everything in size. Now the interface looks very nice on 4k, but way too big on the two 1080p screens. Now, you can use xrandr --output HDMI-1 --scale 2x2 to reduce the scaling to half for the specific display. But now th...

Re: increase symbold and text size for one display?

I just found the user interface scaling, which allows you to set it to high, so symbols are regular sized. Although that only works for the entire desktop, not screen specific. And the minimize, maximize, and close icons remain really small :D

increase symbold and text size for one display?

Hi, I have one 4k display as my main display, and two 1920x1080 displays besides it. Now, on the main display texts and icons are really small ... Is there a way to increase this size? And if yes, only on this display? Because I imagine that if I increase it, the sizes on the other displays will be ...

Time is not correct

Hi, I run Mint 19.1 cinnamon. I do have the ntp service running, also restarted it, but it shows more than it actually is. It looks a bit like it is showing UTC+4 instead of UTC+2. How can I check the reason for that? Optimally, only in the terminal, since I work remotely on it. How can I see which ...

Unable to increase ulimit for non-root

Hi, I need to increase the soft limit for the number of open files. I can go up to 4095, there the hard limit is reached. But I cant change the hard limit. I tried basically anything that I found regarding this. I changed /proc/sys/fs/file-max, I added it to /etc/security/limits.conf, I added fs.fil...

[SOLVED] taskbar icons issue

Hi, I installed 19.1 Cinnamon and I don't like the task bar icon behaviour. Is there a way to have it like in previous versions? At the moment, the windows that I click, ie. the terminal, opens up in place and I can't open another one by clicking on it. In previous version, clicking on it opened a s...
