Re: Dual boot with external SSD
Legacy or UEFI boot? With UEFI boot there is a bug in the installer when installing to a second drive, it won't put grub where you tell it. Relatively straightforward to fix. I was dreading the Intel Optane and RTS, but I think I have it figured out. I'll put the SSD on the inside and then install ...

Dual boot with external SSD
If I were to hook an external SSD drive to another laptop to install Mint then pull it out of the other laptop, move it to this system, and somehow point the boot to the external that has Mint?
Thanks

Re: Mint to an Acer Nitro 5 with windows 11
I have an Acer Nitro 5 with Windows 11. I want to dual boot Linux Mint. There is a new way files are stored, I think it is, and was wondering if anyone has done it here. Acer always tries to keep you out. Thanks All the above with one more question. If I were to hook an external drive to another la...

Re: Mint to an Acer Nitro 5 with windows 11
It may be necessary to state how I did the upgrade. I run 3 drives, one is Linux, one is storage and one is Windows. I unplugged the linux drive just to make sure windows didn't mess with it. I booted to win10 and mounted the ISO image of win 11 and ran setup.exe to do the upgrade to win 11. From w...

Re: Mint to an Acer Nitro 5 with windows 11
Larry have you ever disabled RST and Optane? The running RST won't let me install Mint. Is it worth it?Larry78723 wrote: ⤴Wed Oct 06, 2021 9:11 am Check your Bios/UEFI. Thanks

Re: Mint to an Acer Nitro 5 with windows 11
It just hit on RST. A lot of you know the RST needs to be shut down. I didn't. In fact I've never heard of it and If I go on with the installation, can I restart it after the install?
Thanks

Re: Microsoft will ship Linux Kernel in Win 10's WSL
I have windows in a dual boot on one system, so I can run my IP cams. Linux really doesn't have an app to run IP cams without paying big bucks and the rest of the systems Mint only, so no on running Microsoft crap unless I have to.
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks, Larry. I deleted the extra partition with Gparted. It was bad install from last year. I reboot and all came up right.

The only problem there is, it's supposed to be a dual boot but in this case a triple boot.

Re: Running out of disk space
Come to find out, I must have set two different installs to the same drive. Call me whatever you want because I have. Man... Where was I that day? I have no idea why this happened but how do I see where the first is installed and get rid of it? A terminal command to find it then? The reason...
