Re: can't change default application for mp3s

I always accept the ''updated by you or a script'' changes, which sometimes alters the application+file association. Right-Click an MP3 file and select [Properties] [Open With] and select the Audacious radio button. Sometimes it refuses to change; press Reset in that dialogue and try again. I tried...

Re: random logouts

What you're calling a logout looks to me like an X-window server crash. If that's the case, you may find some useful messages in the .xsession_errors file in your home directory. You'll have to use one of the terminal session windows to look at it, of course. If you log in again via the GUI, .xsessi...

Re: No keyboard control when GRUB menu is displayed [SOLVED]

In fact I found a setting that I changed, and now the issue is resolved.

Was that the legacy keyboard support setting, by chance?

Re: Can not get wireless on Linux Mint 15

mattfaria12, you can look that up yourself by using the man command, as in type ; man modprobe at the command line to learn about the modprobe command. Just look for the parameters Ronshere included in that group of commands. The short version is that he had you remove some Linux drivers that were n...

Re: Caja causing eratic high CPU usage

The update discussed here: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=198&t=145884 solved the Caja problem for me (thanks to the LMDE team, BTW). If Firefox and mate-system-monitor weren't running, I doubt I'd see any CPU use at all. It looks like updating libmatedesktop did the trick. At least...

Re: Caja causing eratic high CPU usage

Thanks for finding that, Monsta. The link between the directories was one of the things I tried that didn't work. I think we'll have to wait for a rebuilt caja package.

Re: LMDE Update Pack 7

Thanks to the LMDE devs for continuing to try to merge Mint with Debian. I'm looking at it as a way of putting a modern environment on an old computer. It's hosted on a 3.0 GHz P4 with 2GB of RAM, which is mostly adequate. With MATE running a Firefox browser, UP7 uses about 440 MBytes of RAM, which ...

Re: no thumbnails after UP-7

I'm seeing this problem, too, after upgrading to UP-7. Changing permissions per the Ubuntu link didn't fix things, nor did adding the .config/thumbnails directory, nor did removing the .thumbnails directories and restarting caja as teatime suggests. In addition, caja is using nearly all of the CPU's...

Re: Atheros. Damned Atheros.

Ubuntu seems unsure about how well this beast works, but suggests that ath9k should be the way to go. For what it's worth, Wikidevi agrees . Linux wireless is the authority, of course, but it seems to be down at the moment. If you manage to connect to Linux wireless , it's best to confirm by PCI ID...

Re: List of support TV tuner card on Linux mint and How to

However, switched over to a WinTV-HVR-950Q, which uses USB, and after following the instructions given at: http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-950Q I have managed to get tv working from the cable box that Comcast had supplied. For a TV app I am using tvtime. One issue was probably...
