Re: What VPN service would you recommend to a Newbie?

If you can't use PIA's client, use any of the other VPNs that work great with no client. If you want some free advice, avoid PIA. I'm not interested in a flame war but I am interested in avoiding pitfalls. Can you elaborate here or send me a pm about PIA. I currently have a subscription with them a...

Re: "Indicator Support" in Mint 17.3 breaks some application

I posted about this as well here http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=211321

Unfortunately no good answers have come up. I am having trouble with Clipgrab and Private internet access as well.

System Tray Issues in 17.3

I was running 17.2 and it was working great. I upgraded to 17.3 through the update manager and everything works great with one exception of the system tray. I can no longer scroll in drop down menus from programs running in the system tray. It also acts different including the menu's disappear faste...

Re: Does anyone have Thunderbird 38.3.0 freeze after a while

I am experiencing the same issue. It usually happens after being idle for a long time or coming out of suspend. I have to terminate the process and restart thunderbird.

I thought it was just me. I am running 17.2 cinnamon

No Sound Notifications (SOLVED)

I recently installed Mint Cinnamon 17.2 and all was going well. The one problem I am having is that I no longer have any sound effects (I.E. Login sounds, Volume change). I do have sound for playing music and watching videos but nothing when it comes to sound effects. When I go into the settings and...

Re: How is a newbie to choose? Manjaro XFCE vs. Linux Mint X

I have used both on my main computer as well. Manjaro is a quality OS with great support. It runs great and it is built with a lot of attention to detail. I actually enjoyed learning arch and using it. With that said, it is still Arch and although anything can be accomplished with enough time and re...

Re: Nemo Switch to New Tab

Thank you guys for the help.

Ctrl+T will have to be a workaround until they add a setting for it. I also did do a feature request as well.

Thanks again.

Thank you for your help but I know that I can open a folder. I work with multiple tabs open very often. I was just looking to cut out the extra step when I open a new tab in Nemo to switch to it automatically.

Nemo Switch to New Tab

Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing to be able to switch to a new tab when opened in Nemo file manager? I am running Cinnamon 17.2 and the current default when I right click on a folder and "open in a new tab". It opens in the background. 95% of the time, I want to switch to it immediatel...

Re: Backup Xfce Settings

I would copy the home folder back over in KDE You may wish to consider that you cannot copy files that are in use, So, it's either logout of any Desktop and open a terminal using Ctrl+Alt+F[1-6] and login as yourself. Then do something like cp -pr /path/to/media/* /home/user/ or something like rsyn...

Re: Hard Drives Not Recognized After KDE 4.11 Update (Solved

They should be still there, just not showing up in the usual path /media/$hard drive

Look in /media/$your user/$hard drive

Re: How to make "Super key + E" open file manager?

Go to your main menu and open up "settings manager/keyboard" then switch to the "Application Shortcuts" tab Click on "Add". In the box that opens up under "command", type in "thunar" (without the quotes) and hit "ok". In the next box that pops up just enter the key combo by holding down the "super k...

Re: Backup Xfce Settings

Terminal > cp -pr ~/.config /path/to/media or something like time rsync -avzt /home/boing --exclude Dropbox --exclude Downloads /media/boing/sharemedia/backup/040713/ Most of the time you will be able to just reinstall over home (don't format the home partition and it'll work) see http://youtu.be/k...

Re: Backup Xfce Settings

I guess I should try the mint backup tool again. I had tried it once but I tend to lean towards having an exact copy of my stuff rather than it compressed and not being able to browse through the files. So I end up using Freefilesync to sync my home folder to an external drive. But like I said, mayb...

Re: How to make Super Key Open whisker menu In LM xfce 15?

I got mine to work by following this To open Whisker Menu using a keyboard shortcut, do the following: from the Xfce Settings > Keyboard, on the "Application Shortcuts" tab, click "Add" and use "xfce4-popup-whiskermenu" (without the quotes) for the command. Then assign it a keyboard shortcut (make s...

Backup Xfce Settings

Hello, I am back with more questions. Loving Xfce since my switch from KDE. One problem I am running into was when I reinstall mint or upgraded to the newest distro with KDE, I would just backup the "home" folder, install mint, and then copy the whole "home" folder back and reboot and everything, al...
