Re: Audio out in Wine blocks audio out in native apps (& vice versa)

I think all the ubuntu/mint installs include pulseaudio, which should let you 'mix' audio from various sources and hear it all at the same time. Some sound cards can do that w/o pulse, but not all. So, just a guess - some of the programs are talking to 'alsa' rather than pulse, or you don't have pu...

Audio out in Wine blocks audio out in native apps (& vice versa)

So essentially I use a laptop as an alarm clock, but the alarm clock application is Win32 native. I tried the native Linux alarm clocks, but they lacked certain capabilities I need because I do shift work, and I'm not nearly proficient enough to write an application myself. I tried, but it was reall...

So how far off is LMDE 3?

It's been six years since Linux Mint Debian Edition was released in September of 2010. After 4 years and 8 months, the original LMDE was finally superseded by Betsy in the spring of 2015. it did not disappoint. Now after nearly a year and a half of amazingly smooth operation, I have to wonder, "How ...

Re: A Different Update Manager Behavior

So all I have to do is find that specific point in the mintUpdate.py and insert a quit(), exit(), sys.exit(), or os._exit()? You make it sound so easy!

I'm looking at it right now, and a I have no idea what I'm doing. :?

A Different Update Manager Behavior

Sometimes I have a little trouble being concise, so forgive me if this meanders a little... I've been using LMDE since linuxmint-201303-mate-dvd-32bit.iso, and I've seen some ups and downs, but mostly ups. It's a great Desktop OS. After Update Pack 8, things were very stable, and I was happy. So I r...

Re: Scanner not working in LMDE

Did you follow the instructions? (Did you even read far enough to see that there were instructions?) Setup instruction Install the downloaded package archive file as an Administrator following the manual. For how to install and use this software, refer to the instruction manual. Quoted from http://...

[COMPLETELY SOLVED]... Scanner not working in LMDE

I have a Canon MG3122 where Linux Mint DEBIAN EDITION doesn't seem to be recognizing the scanner . Simple Scan says "No scanners detected. Please check your scanner is connected and powered on." I know it's connected and powered on, because the printer half is working just fine. I went to Canon-Asia...
