Rockbox Utility 1.4.1 in Mint 19.3

Rockbox Utility 1.4.1 claims that, "For Linux, any modern distro should work." When I attempt to run it, it returns ./RockboxUtility: error while loading shared libraries: libcryptopp.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I saw that I do have /usr/lib/x86_64-linux...

Re: Timeshift - Not Enough Disk Space

I had a related issue with my new Mint 19.3 desktop. Not long after everything was set up and running fine, all of a sudden the 412G /home partition was full. It turned out Timeshift had started to backup the HDD on my other desktop, which I had NFS mounted as /dstore but neglected to put o...

Re: No Audio - Realtek ACL1220

In my case, I have a Gigabyte AORUS Z390 Master motherboard with Realtek ACL1220 and a GTX 1080Ti with GP102 HDMI Audio Controller. Unfortunately, these both rely on the kernel driver/module snd_hda_intel, and Pulseaudio in Linux Mint 19.3 gets confused about which output device is being used. There...

Re: HowTo: Samba Browsing Problems Checklist

Hi Everyone, I had issues connecting to my samba shares on my Linux Mint computer from my Windows 10 PC only to find out that the problem was the Win10 policies that were preventing to drive mapping to unauthenticated account. I'm adding the link here in case that can help someone https://support.m...

After Reverting to Open-Source Driver, Cinnamon Runs in Software Rendering Mode (SOLUTION)

i am running Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon and just had this issue, so I thought I'd share what worked for me. I had tried using the fglrx-updates driver and realized that it's not optimal for Kodi use. Anyhow, when I reverted back to the open source driver, Cinnamon would claim to be running in software...

Mounted Shares from Windows 7 Periodically Stop Working

I have my fstab set to automatically mount several drives (via the default administrative shares) from my Windows 7 machine as such: //192.168.0.2/a$\ /mnt/earth/a cifs exec,credentials=/home/seamonkey/.smbcredentials,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,sec=ntlm 0 0 This works fine initially...

Re: Unable to Connect to extra.linuxmint.com Repo

I finally was able to track my issue down to a firewall blocking traffic to the mirrors, for reasons I've not yet discovered. I connected my laptop directly to the Xfinity router and was able to select mirrors and get updates with no problem. Gotta try and figure out what on the PFSense firewall is...

Re: GLSlideshow in Xscreensaver does not work

Getting libwww-perl worked for me until today when the perl packages updated to 5.14.2-13ubuntu0.2. Now it's broken again.
