Re: Switch applications using panel with shortcuts
The closest i can get to what you're looking for is by using alt-tab and 2 windowspaces; see the screenshot. The only difference is the action takes place in the middle of the screen instead of the panel, but we are all creatures of habit, so...

Re: Switch applications using panel with shortcuts
This does what you ask for:
1- In applets -> grouped window list -> general, tick "show windows from all workspaces.
2- Open FM in 1st, terminal in 2nd, text editor in 3rd workspace.
3- Instead of changing apps, change workspaces w/ ctrl-alt-left/right.

Maybe starting VLC from a terminal will yield more clues.

Re: low disk space (root) - now computer won't boot
I do not see why not. I tried it once and had i/o errors but mine was (is) an ageing laptop with flaky usb ports. If that fails, I suggest getting a free online/cloud storage like Google drive and back up the most important stuff up there using live image. If you have a small drive I recommend a sin...

Re: 20.1 Ulyssa Import firefox profile
Maybe this can help:
https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/fir ... reuse.html
You'll copy and paste a single line in terminal, though.
Otherwise, you'll have to use Firefox sync with your FF account.

Restored system with timeshift (just to see what it does, never used it before), re-upgraded everything except the last mesa. Everything is peachy now.

Re: Window manager broken after last update
Similar problems here with XFCE, 19.1.
Open apps do not show in task bar (windows buttons not visible).
No window decorations (min/max buttons)
Can not maximize Firefox, bookmarks button not working.
Disabling compositor (xfwm 4 only) solved the problems without rebooting.
Peace,
t.

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
The beta is now available on this mirror. Have fun testing ... :D :D :D https://ftp.fau.de/mint/iso/testing/ Nice! Thanks! Edit: it looks like the MATE edition of 19 beta is not ready. It has a bottom panel but nothing is on it when you boot it live. Xfce 19 beta does work and installs. Haven't tri...

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
One extra thing I always do when prompted is changing my user name to something else. For instance if your user name is name, use newname as the user for this installation. This gives two directories under /home: /name and /newname. I cut everything I need from /name and paste under /newname. This ...

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
Is there (or could there be) an "official' sticky instruction for safely saving /home for insertion to Mint 19, when it is released. I have moderate talent, but am always willing to become smarter! Here is what I do: My disk partitions are /, swap and /home (MBR). After live disk is loaded I s...

Re: Cinnamon Desktop on older laptop
Hello, I'm kind of a newbie to Linux but so far Mint has been may favorite distro to use. I'm currently using (don't laugh) a older gateway laptop that originally had Windows Vista (ugh) on it. It's the Gateway Mt7607 and has a 1.66ghz 32bit processor with 2GB RAM. I currently have mint 18.3 MATE i...

Or let your child play with your PC, you will have two rows and can't take it back:

Re: Desperately need double functional height of taskbar.
I do not have access to Mate system but on Cinnamon, right click pnel, go to panel settings, click add new panel. Should be something similar in Mate, I presume. I know it is not exactly the requested feature, but it might help OP.

No it was not. I assumed it was a laptop, sorry. Then I suggest bringing down network interfaces by following this thread:yef13 wrote:Is it a joke?arsivci wrote:Unplug power cable before shutdown.
I've got it on a Desktop, not a Laptop.

Try unplugging the power cable and then shut it down.
An interim solution until kernel picks up a patch (saw a fix in Fedora forums for others looking for a permanent solution).

rtl8723ae interferes with sound
Can any one of those unfortunate souls with a rtl8723ae wireless nic confirm if the bloody realtek magnificent design interferes with sound playback? I would like to drop a message to linux wireless list if it is not something that happens to only me; maybe the info might help maintainers... and als...
