Re: Three things that take most time

Forgive me but is 20s loading a problem? Load any Windows machine and you're looking at 5+ MINUTES to make it work!

20 seconds is ultra fast!

Re: Whats different about debian mint?

When you start using it Debian based distros are far easier to maintain and use than anything based on Ubuntu. If you don't believe that have a look at MX Linux or Antix. That's bollocks. Ubuntu is Debian made user-friendly, and Mint is Ubuntu made even user-friendlier. Ubuntu maybe based on Debian...

Re: Is this really meant to be installed?

The OP doesn't say anywhere that he/she has checked the MD3 against the downloaded file copy of Mint 19, perhaps they have a borked copy?

The Epson CD only contains drivers for Windows, but chances are your printer will work using the standard drivers already included with your Linux.

Re: Monthly News – March 2019

What on earth are you on about? If you don't like the advice you're given, ignore it. If you don't like Mint, choose another distribution. To pretend there is any compulsion borders on paranoia. Try actually reading some of the 'advice' offered by the regular answerers. To name them is out of order...

Re: Monthly News – March 2019

The problem with Mint from my perspective is that the 'advisors' on the Mint forum have become like policemen, telling us what we MUST do and MUST NOT do regarding software installed. It's become exactly like the MS Windows forums and we all know why we have dropped Windoze! Come on guys, we are all...

Re: LMDE3 with Xfce

May I make a small comment? I have being trying LMDE 3 as a Live system but have to say that being lumbered with the Cinnamon DE, makes it an unwieldy system which is quite slow on my Dell 1545 laptop. It's highly unlikely that I will switch to it although I am a big fan of Debian as an every day sy...

Re: System asking for a password when I didn't set up one?

If you are running off a Live USB or DVD, but before doing an install of Mint, when asked for a password just hit 'Enter' and it will work. REmember that nothing is saved when you switch it off if you haven't installed it as your operating system.

Re: Which Linux Mint installs with Linux Kernel 4.7

MX 17.1 or Antix 17.1 can use the older kernels, and in those distros there is no automatic kernel upgrades, you select them from MX Updater or Antix updater, manually.

Re: GoToMyPC Web To Windows 10 Desktop

Just a thought, do you really need a large bloated Win 10 to run that site or could you use a cut down version of Win 7? Or you could try using the ReactOS Linux which apparently runs Windows software.

Re: Help! Newbie technical advice needed

Load Mint (or any other Linux) on via a USB or DVD and select 'take over whole hard drive'. That will delete Windows and automatically format the hard drive for the correct format for Linux (Ext 4) and install Linux. You don't need your 'Death Disk ', Linux is capable of doing it better. Monitor sho...

Do you mean for this forum Joe? My forum password here is a simple 6 letter word that is easy for me to remember. Re: Can't print! What have I forgotten?

Check your printer's settings and under Properties click 'print test page'. If nothing prints you need to change the driver where it says 'make and model'. Keep testing and changing make and model until it works.

I am running Linux Mint 15.
Linux Mint 15 reached End-Of-Life back in 2014 if I am not mistaken. If you are still running it that's a bigger problem than an outdated browser.

Re: Fingerprint reader on my Dell E5440

I think you'll find that finger print readers were a fad many years ago that never really caught on, so system builders leave it out of their software because it's not popular.
