Re: Kate terminates on open or save

Yes, Cinnamon.

This works, thanks.

I'm have zero experience in the maintainance of linux repositories and I imagine it is a massive job (and I'm also aware that I didn't quite RTFM), but could the mint repo not include these libs as dependencies for kate?

Kate terminates on open or save

I installed Kate from Mint 17.1 Software Manager. It appears to install correctly and run (including allowing text editing), but crashes as soon as you click 'open' or 'save' (or select them from the menu). If run from the terminal, I get the output below. Any ideas about what I can do to fix this? ...

I definitely installed 64 bit Linux. I was more concerned about the 'amd' part of the suffix, since it is not an AMD chip I'm using. But is it the case that 'amd64' packages are appropriate for intel 64 bit chips too?

As for package manager, I'll give it a try.

Cheers, Tony

Intel system, package downloads have amd64 suffix...

I have a new system, and Linux Mint 14 is my first foray into Linux. The system has an Intel i5 processor, but Mint seems to be downloading packages with an amd64 suffix. Should I worry about this? I am also having trouble with Software Manager. Sometimes clicking install causes a download, but no i...
