Re: X server fails to boot after kernel update to 4.4
Alright, good to know what is going on. Removing the nvidia driver and reinstalling the kernel didn't change anything; the same x server fail happens. I'll just upgrade to 18.3, thanks!

Re: X server fails to boot after kernel update to 4.4
Installing 3.13.0-139 isn't the solution apparently, since that just boots to a blank black screen, without any error messages. Any ideas?

X server fails to boot after kernel update to 4.4
Following https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=261343 , I updated my kernel from 3.19.0-32 to 4.4.0-109. The update went fine, but when booting the new kernel, it fails to get to the login screen, and after a few tries, says that Xserver failed to boot with: AddScreen/ScreenInit failed ...

Re: Secondary screen not working with nvidia-375/378
Not a fix, but 'solved' this by reverting back to the 370.28 drivers from the graphics-drivers ppa.

Secondary screen not working with nvidia-375/378

The primary screen works fine, but the second screen displays either nothing, or a garbled version of the primary display, no cursor. I've...

Re: High CPU usage of Xorg
Thanks for the comment, switching from the nvidia drivers to the nouveau drivers seemed to do the trick, Xorg and cinnamon load are now back to ~2% each, and the whole system is running way more fluently again.

High CPU usage of Xorg
Hi, I'm currently running LM 14 Nadia on a laptop, with a Intel C2D P8700 and a Nvidia GT240M. When idle, the cpu-usage varies between 20-50% constantly, for both cores. Looking at the processes in the System Monitor, it seems that Xorg (25-35%) and Cinnamon (~10%) are the culprits. I assume that th...
